UGH!!! I'm here and they gave my room type away!

Thanks everyone for all your great replies! Here's the update. Left early this morning for AK, had bell services take our luggage. We were until 3pm but had called a couple times earlier and the room wasn't ready until just before 3pm. Not a biggie, had a great day at AK. When we checked in to our correct room type there was a generic note from Bill Thompson and a bowl of fruit (small gesture but hey it's something). We are on 5th floor with Epcot view and watched the Illuminations tonight. Great view! Bell services was super busy when we got back at about 3:45 (called several times and never did get anyone to answer:confused3 ) so we ended up going down to the lobby to get our own luggage because we needed to change for dinner at Narcoossee's.

Soooooo....now on to the next issue. We are on the dining plan and I asked when we moved rooms if everything would transfer OK, was told yes not a problem. When we got our bill at Narcoossee's it showed we used 8 credits (which was correct), but we now have zero left:sad2: Long story short, when they checked us back in they wiped out all of our meal credits and had us checking out on 10-19 not linked anymore with the other nights. Taking a deep breath I go back down to the front desk and talk with a very unhelpful cast member until I finally get to talk to the manager I dealt with yesterday. She knows I'm frustrated but I tell her that hey I'm on vacation and I just need to laugh about it and NOT let it take away from the trip. At this point I should have 14 snacks, 14 CS and 12 TS left. Lisa says just a minute and goes in back and after a considerable wait comes back with everything resolved.:thumbsup2

Before I would have had to check back in on 10-19 since they didn't have it linked right. She got everything linked back correctly (so no second check-in) and reinstated my meal plan to 16 snacks, CS and TS. So I'm getting 2 extra snacks and CS and 4 extra TS. My only problem now is that I'm not sure if I will be able to use all the credits. What a horrible problem!:rotfl2: I think we will try to change one of our ADRs to another signature meal.

I'm not pushing things right now....I just really want to enjoy my vacation. However, if I have to spend any more time resolving issues I'm not sure how much longer I can stay calm and happy. I'm really hoping for some pixie dust on 10-21. Right now my husband and I are switching to SSR for 10-21 thru 10-25 to stay for business (couldn't get in to BCV). They are trying to get me a room here at BCV and are somewhat optimistic that they will be able to accomodate my request. IMHO, if they can keep me from having to switch resorts it will help make me feel better about the inconveniences I've dealt with.

Here's hoping everything else goes smoothly! I'll update as I can but will be gone to Universal and Blue Man group all day tomorrow. Thanks again for your kind thoughts!

This is one that I WOULD push the envelope on. IMHO, you did not get the accomodations that were reserved for you on a guaranteed reservation. I would insist that MS/DVC returns the points for that night without any restrictions on the points as to banking/borrowing, etc. A member of your group did not get a "real" bed that was expected. I wouldn't let it ruin my vacation, but I also would expect more compensation than a bowl of fruit (though it was nice that they cared enough to at least acknowledge some inconvenience). Somebody needs to own up and take responsibility for the mistake. If it didn't matter, it wouldn't be a guaranteed category--and this isn't a "view" issue, this is sleeping accomodations for your group.

I completely agree with this. It's great that you're staying so calm and not letting it ruin your vacation, but they certainly should do something more than a bowl of fruit. They at least should have let you stay in the room you had until the new room was ready, so you didn't have to deal with bell services (especially since you ended up getting your own luggage!) I hope you get some pixie dust and are able to stay at BCV! Have a wonderful trip!:goodvibes

I have an idea! You come here and go to work for me tomorrow and I'll go there and "put up with" their mistake. All kidding aside! We all make mistakes, including Disney. You're at Disney. Don't let this ruin your vacation. Pick a park you enjoy most, check out, go enjoy your afternoon and when you get back your room will be ready. Have a Great Vacation!!

You are now a bonafide DVC expert... I am sure the next time you will know what to do in these situations... Sorry for the bad experiences, but it does happen to everyone, at all resorts... Live and learn, we have learned...

I disagree. We have very, very few instances of a member being denied a confirmed, GUARANTEED CATEGORY reservation and receiving absolutely no meaningful compensation. This is the equivalent of reserving a one bedroom and receiving a studio with no compensation, or reserving a two bedroom and being given a one bedroom. The private, dedicated sleeping capacity of this room was less than that which was reserved. We have heard of few, if any, comparable instances.

There have been a few situations somewhat similar or worse. These include at least 2 instances of being denied a room at the resort one was reserved and in one case a member being told they were an owner at OKW and not BCV was the reason they were selected to be displaced. My recollection of both of these reports was that the end result was somewhat positive but the route to get there not so much. I'd agree there's not really much of a take home message other than stuff happens and DVC isn't perfect.
