Ugh. I have to go Jersey Week. How Bad?

Thanks we are 10/31 - 11/7. Now if I could just get the flights cheaper LOL

Jersey week is crowded!!! And, the weekend of the 7th and 8th is the mini marathon as well. We are headed there the 9-19.

I'm from Jersey and I'm going during this time and I'm more worried about F&W crowds than my fellow Jerseyans being there.

F&W is most crowded on the weekends. Not bad during the week.

Ugh. Due to the ridiculous new attendance requirements forced on Jersey schools by the Feds I have to go to Disney during Jersey Week instead of our usual week later. Don't even get me started about PARCC lol. Anyway, in addition I get to pay extra $1000 for airfare and dealing with crowds that I'm not used to - how bad is it going to be???

Just curious what the new attendance requirements are. Are they from the state or your district? I teach in NJ and have kids take a week for vacation all throughout the year with no issues. No tone intended in this post, honestly just curious because often times we are the last to know of changes!

We are at 10 unexcused and vacations are not recognized. I have to laugh though. My sister is a teacher in MD. Very affluent school district and area. International travel is the norm for a lot of her kids. Guess what they came up with? 21 days before any repercussions. Crazy.

That's crazy, our district (I'm in upstate NY) Has no set limits. I'm sure if it gets excessive the school might get involved but mostly it is left up to the parents to make sure their kids are in school. We have been going to Disney for two weeks at a time almost yearly for the last 10 years and have never had a problem with the school besides to occasional snotty comment that it's our responsablity to make sure they get caught up.
