DH and I went to dinner on Friday night, and went off plan, for our monthly dinner out. Not too bad. However, for "convenience" we stayed off plan for the weekend, as we were not really able to access the foods we usually eat on Atkins (so we told ourselves, we probably could have worked it out). And boy am I paying the price this morning. Not only am I up 5 lbs from FRIDAY'S weight, but I feel TERRIBLE. My stomach hurts, I am lethargic, and feel achy all over. I also can't eat a thing, and had a horrible headache all weekend. If I didn't have people coming to the office this morning, I would be staying home.
Just a word to the wise, it is not worth staying off all weekend.
(I have gone off before for a meal and it hasn't been a problem, but this is not the way to go for me anymore!) I will certainly be trying to take my own advice!

Jeanne - I am so sorry you are feeling so lousy but thanks for sharing your experience. This is one of my biggest concerns with going off plan for a few days. I don't want the hassle and bad feelings physically and maybe even emotionally that come with it. I will be going on vacation in June and I am working hard to make sure there are enough choices for me to stay on plan while at Disney. From what I have been reading from people who have come back and stayed on plan, it is doable.

I hope you feel better soon!

Jeanne, drink your water and flush all the bad stuff out of your body. You'll feel better soon! This is a lesson we all eventually learn - I've learned it several times already! :p

Once your body is used to healthy food, it seems to get quite annoyed if you feed it otherwise. I guess that's a good thing - helps us stay on plan - but the price we pay for a few days of indulgence - oh my!!

Hang in there - this is only temporary! :sunny:

What a way to start a Monday.....:( Now it's reality time for you AND me....flush out the toxic *stuff* in the system and get back to FEELING good again!

Too bad it's such a harsh lesson..

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so bad today, I hope you can get back on track and start feeling better real soon.

Hope you feel better. Do drink plenty of water. It does wonders for the body.

I am feeling much better now. I have been drinking my water, and had a salad for lunch. I do have one question, however, could I really have gained 5 pounds since Friday? Or do you think it is mostly water weight? (I have no doubt that I may have gained some, but 5 pounds??)

Jeanne, 5 pounds is an awful lot of calories - there is NO POSSIBLE WAY you could have eaten THAT much! :p I'm sure it's practically all water weight and it should be gone within the next 2-3 days. Keep drinking that water! :sunny:

I get a headache when I eat Chinese food. Although I only eat beef and broccoli and lean chicken and mushrooms, the added sugar and corn starch they use to sweeten and thicken the sauces seem to be getting me today. (And I try not to consume any of the sauce, I try to scrape off as much as I can).

Keep drinking, keep drinking, keep drinking water!

princessmomma, the headache could also be due to MSG in the Chinese food. My friend refers to an MSG reaction as "hot brains"

Definitely water weight (plus what I like to call "stop overeating, doofus! weight"). :) It's your body's way of telling you that this yo-yo-*** business is NOT cool, thanks very much. Doe is right - you should drop it in two or three days.

I find this happens when I eat wrong now too...and I'm doing WW, not Atkins. Last week my sister was in town and we did a lot of eating out, I ate so bad and paid for it for 3 days. So, I drank more water and went into the fast track program for a few days...(lower points then normal) and all seems back on track.

Same thing happens to me. I think it's mostly water weight, also. Maybe you gained a pound and that won't take long to get off.

Eating right is sometimes the hard "choice" and the "inconvenient choice", isn't it? I have to keep telling myself that I've been "conveniently" eating myself up to *** pounds, ENOUGH ALREADY! :teeth:

Now I am "inconveniently" fitting into my clothes!:p ;) (If you know what I mean).

Good for you for getting back on track today and drinking your water.:smooth:

Well, since Monday I have dropped 3.5 lbs, so I am feeling much better, and know that the rest will come off too. Thanks for all your support, I don't know what I would do without you all!:grouphug:
