I already have a few points sitting over with RCI, but haven’t had the energy to actually look into using them. Similarly, I don’t know if I have the energy to deal with renting out my points that expire in Feb. So leaning towards just chucking these over to RCI as well.

Does anyone actually stay with RCI? Are the RCI places even open now? …

I haven’t deposited any DVC points into RCI but have explored the possibility of doing so.
Because extended family own blue/green points which also trade via RCI I’ve experienced 2 different resorts available to DVC via RCI.
One was in Cape Cod pre pandemic and the other was in New Hampshire in June of this year. They also stayed in Las Vegas this fall - so yes, other timeshares that trade via RCI are open now. I will say that the resorts I experienced were lovely & I wouldn’t hesitate to visit them again.
The one positive about doing RCI is that you extend the life of your points & thus may be able to use those points yourself. Plus as mentioned inventory w/ DVC between now and Feb. is pretty tight so renting might be problematic.

130 points into RCI will get you a week in NYC(studio), which is a great deal, if you like NYC.

I've never deposited points to RCI but have used DVC points to book RCI resorts. While most are not the DVC we all want to remember, none have been bad and a few have been great. Get online and find some resorts near you where you might want to do a long weekend.
