Hello,

I have not been to the world in a few years and we are planning a trip for next spring. Someone mentioned that I needed to get up to speed with the new FastPass+. What?

Anyway, I did some searching around here and have not found a thread that explains it all out. Everything Disney explains it as the greatest thing in the world but I am not convinced.

So is there a sticky around here that explains it?

Thanks,

The thread is called,"Fast Pass+ Basic Information, Attraction List, and Suggested Priorities." It is kept updated and everything you need to know is in the first post. Right now it is sitting on the second page of threads here, but you could do a search.

Great. thanks. I did a search on FastPass, FastPass+, FastPass Plus & FP+ I did not do a search on Fast Pass+

I will try that now!

With the changes in place on Monday, FastPass+ is very close to being the same as the old FastPass. There are some differences, namely that things that didn't used to have FastPass now have that as an option.

Your first three FastPasses ...

  • Can be scheduled up to 60 days in advance (for hotel guests, 30 for day guests)
  • Have to be at the same park
  • Cannot be for multiple FastPasses on the same ride
  • May be broken into tiers (at Epcot and Hollywood Studios)
  • Can be scheduled for nighttime shows (like Wishes), parades, or character meets
After you have used those three passes, you can go to ANY FastPass+ Kiosk, and select another FastPass. People sometimes refer to this as a "rolling fourth" FastPass, since after you get a fourth and use it, you can get a fifth, sixth, etc.

Your "rolling fourth" FastPass ...

  • Can only be picked after ALL three of your scheduled FastPasses have been used or expired (even if one is for a nighttime show)
  • Can be used on rides you've already FastPassed
  • Can be used at a different park (for those with Park Hoppers)
  • Cannot currently be selected with the MDE app. You must use a Kiosk.
Overall, I find the changes to be positive and convenient. It does take some thinking about, but not moreso than anything else on a WDW trip. You can still be spontaneous, but expect that FastPass selections day-of may be limited (though I've been able to look in MDE and see plenty of availablity for shows and rides, with the Anna & Elsa meet an obvious exception).

This might be a silly question, but do the kiosks each cover rides and attractions for all parks? If I finish my 3rd FP+ at MK and decide to hop over to HS, can I walk up to a MK kiosk and schedule the 4th FP for a ride at HS?

Good question! I think the kiosks are all identical, but I don't know for sure. Someone will need to be a guinea pig, I think. :thumbsup2

No - they are only for reserving FP+ in the park in which you are standing. I even tried the kiosk at guest services in DHS and it had the same limitation.
