UGH! Do I need to Rethink MGM on Aug.30 & 31?

Although, I think my kids would still secretly enjoy the show a bit, I am worried about the havoc the Wiggles will create at MGM. Over the last few years there have been quite a few threads "wishing" upon a Wiggles performance at WDW and they will be here right in the middle of our touring. We were planning on 8/30 as our full day at MGM with a lunch ADR and 8/31 we have Fantasmic Dinner at MM. The Wiggles will be performing several times a day (exact times I cannot find) from August 29-Sept. 1. Am I wrong to think they will be a serious draw to anyone with younger kids?? :confused3 I am guessing Florida day trippers will come out in droves also---tickets in our area sold out fast! Free dining is awesome but moving ADR's not so easy right now. Anyone have any thoughts or advice?? Thanks.

I would like to know that too. We are going to be there on the 30th also.

Well...it's hard to say because personally I (as a local with a WIggle crazy DD) will only be taking DD to MGM to see the Wiggles if they don't announce an Orlando concert this year. Unfortunately the Florida dates haven't been released yet. So it might just be a wait and see thing. I know...not what you want to hear when you're trying to plan!

I really hope they announce a regular Orlando concert because in my mind I see MGM as a madhouse if it's full of visitors AND locals trying to see the Wiggles. I've seen how some mom's are crazier about the Wiggles than their kids and they can be more than a little weird. I'm not looking forward to a show at MGM, but DD already knows they are coming so I guess I'll do whatever...just really hoping for a regular concert.

I'll be down there at that time too
Me and my brother are soon to be 16(me) and 13(him) and obviously my parents, so the show is not a must do for use...but I want to see how many people are going so we can know whether to skip it those two days or not.
Thanks

I will be at MGM on the 29th when the Wiggles are there. Here is the times I got from Intercot:

Playhouse Disney in Concert
MGM Studios - ABC Theatre

August 13–14 – Imagination Movers
10:00 am, 11:15 am, 1:15 pm & 2:30 pm

August 15–19 – Mickey's Magic Show
10:00 am, 11:15 am, 1:15 pm, 2:30 pm & 4:00 pm

August 20–23 – The Doodlebops
10:00 am, 11:15 am, 1:15 pm & 2:30 pm

August 24–27 – Mickey's Magic Show
10:00 am, 11:15 am, 1:15 pm, 2:30 pm & 4:00 pm

August 29–September 1 – The Wiggles
10:00 am, 11:30 am & 1:00 pm

Since Wiggles last show is at 1, I'm thinking the locals might not stick around so I'm not changing my plans to see Fantasmic on the 29th. Hopefully it will make it easier to ride all the big things, or maybe we will do AK in the morning.

isn't there also a Tom Joyner Family Reunion at MGM that weekend? Thankfully, we're doing MGM earlier that week but we do have ADR's at 50's Prime time for lunch on Friday 9/1 2:00. Then we're gonna hightail it out of there! But maybe we should use WDW trans instead of our car?

I also have planned to go to MGM on the 29th, however, my DH and I thought of doing a water park in the a.m. and getting to MGM by 2:00. My DS's ages 9 & 7 are not interested in the Wiggles so it works out for us.

I didn't know about this! I am going with two of my friends (all twentysomething adults). We are only there Aug31-Sept4 on free dining. Since we already have out ADRs made- planning on MGM on the 31th, I don't think we will bother to make any changes and jsut make do.

Hubby, DD (10) and I will be at MGM on 8/30 and are NOT wiggles fans.
However, we will be going with another family who has 3 kids ages 5 and under, so they may want to see the Wiggles in Concert. (I wonder if there will be a mosh pit??????)

Anyway, we have our dining ressies already made, so I think Hubby, DD and I will plan on doing the "grown up" attractions while the concert is going on.
My SIL and her family can enjoy moshing to the the Wiggles if they want to.

Hope this won't impact crowds much, I will just know to stay clear of the concert stage.

I did not know the Wiggles were going to be there....................We are not big wiggles fans, but if you are in the park, do you get to see them for free?

From what I have found out so far, YES! The concerts are free with park admission.

We will be there the 30th with DS4, so the Wiggles will be a must, but I am having a hard time finding info on how the are handling it. (just show up and stand in line or what? :confused3

My DH and I planned to be at MGM on the 29th. Now I'm torn between going the 28th to avoid the first day crowds, and staying with the 29th assuming many people will be at the concert and the actual park will be less crowded. Where do they hold the concerts? Is it the stage in front of RRC?

Nothing about the wiggles but I had to post what a sweet Britt you have - going to have to go search on my Jiminy Cricket now to see if his freckles have any hidden Mickey's - I'm sure he must have one somewhere!!! :lmao:

I am going to try and move things around so that we have our MGM day on the 28th and try to avoid the "Wiggle Crowd." (Free dining is making this very tricky :sad2: .) We are planning on MM Fantasmic Pkg. for the 30th and I think that will stay the same. This is our 3rd trip during this same time frame and I just have a feeling the parks are going to be much busier than in the past.

I am so ready to be done planning for this trip!!! Free dining, magical beginnings and a DH who decided two weeks ago we had to add a trip to the ocean mid trip have taken all the fun out of being the family trip planner :furious: (Thanks for the mini-vent.)

Bitsnbearsmom --- You never know what you might find on your Britt, definitely have a closer look (minus the freckles they are about the same size and have similar markings--long lost Disney dogs perhaps :rotfl: .) We had our choice of our pup Banjo or his freckled brother who I adored. Once DD "spotted" his "mickey", the decision was made! :lovestruc

We're going on the 30th, too. We plan to ZIG while all the Wiggles fans ZAG. We have ADR for Sci-Fi at 1pm, and don't have to be there before that. We also want to see the 5pm parade that day, and I'm afraid folks will stick around for it.

If it's crazy-crowded, we'll just park-hop.

a 1:30 ADR so i don't think i'll arrive to the park till after 11am

lisa

We'll be there the 31st. I'm hoping for the best-- I was worried about crowds with the Tom Joyner Family Reunion over the weekend, the Wiggles crowd didn't occur to me. Now I wonder which will be worse??? Oh well, all the ADRs are set, so I guess we're stuck with the 31st.

a reply for pooch

isn't there also a Tom Joyner Family Reunion at MGM that weekend?

yes, that event is that weekend also and from the info (very very limited) i was able to gather that group will be at MGM for some of their organized activities. other activities will occur at one of the resorts and i believe that one activity will occur at MK. Everyone is being very closed liped about the details of where this group will be and when. i would love to know as well to plan accordingly and avoid large crowds.

Concerts are in different locations based on performer. The Wiggles are to be at Epic theater.
I just wish I knew where that is :confused3

Someone said it was where Indiana Jones is, but I have a hard time believing they would shut that down for 4 days

Say it isn't so!! I have no idea where the Epic theater is, I had better start doing some research.

I might just switch my MK and MGM days. I really wanted to go to the MK on Monday (8/28) because the night before is EMH there...oh the decisions!
