So do I pitch it? Barbequed ham (chipchop) sitting in a covered pan on the stove. The pan feels cold but still...
And lots of preservatives (ew) in ham, but still.... toss it, right? Ugh
That said, I have kept food and will continue to eat food sitting out overnight. However, I don;t serve it to my dh or my kids. I have a cast iron tummy and rarely ever get sick from things like that. And I'm the type of person who barely even notices when I get a mild case of food poisoning...which, due to my eating habits....happens several times a year. I never get badly sick though.
The only time I was very sick was when I was bedridden for almost 3 days after eating in a five star hotel (no problems when I ate in the gross, very dirty roadside market though!!)
But still....if it was for my dh and my kids, I toss it. I have no problem taking the chance on myself...especially knowing I typically handle stuff like that well...but dh has a more delicate tummy and I won't take the chance on my kids.

Yep, toss it. If I leave stuff out that I know I need to take care of, I turn on the microhood light. It reminds me that I still have food I need to put away before I go to bed.
If you eat it, you may be using this smilie instead. , but if you are feeling lucky eat it. You can always spend the evening in the ER. I never eat anything that has set overnight on the counter. I've had food poisoning. You don't want to get it just to save less than $10 worth of meat.
