UGH!!! DD dropped her Video Now that she got for Christmas

Now it doesn't work and I can hear little parts rattle. Does anyone know who has the cheapest? I was wondering if they would be cheaper after Christmas. I got hers at KMart back in Oct. when they ran a special for $42. It's the Video Now Color, any help?!? I know that Costco has the bundle for $52 or so, anybody else any cheaper? I really don't need the bundle.

Oh no!!! Target had the Sponge Bob version on clearance earlier this week for $35.

Try calling the maker (Hasbro?) - tell them your story & see if they'll replace it. You should be able to drop a child's toy & not have it ruined.

Did you pay for it with a credit card? Was it one that had insurance? Would it cover this too? My brother got his shoes stolen once and the credit card company replaced them.

That sucks. I agree that you should be able to drop a kids toy and have it still work! Not hearing parts rattle. Sorry that happened.

maggiew, No, I paid by check. I will contact the company and see what happens. The closest Target is about 35 minutes away, I guess I could go to WalMart - I hate WalMart though. Oh well, I'll have to suck it up.

I don't know if others would agree with me but if a new toy- expensive etc dropped and wouldn't work I would go back to Walmart or Target or wherever I purchased it with my bill and tell them what happened. I would ask for an exchange.
I also purchased a video now color for my daughter this Christmas. Here in Canada, the cheapest price I could find was at Walmart for $89.99 + 15%tax. In paying that kind of money for a toy that is geared towards younger children- I don't expect it to break beyond repair the first time it gets dropped. I don't know what the "returns person" would say at Walmart or Target for sure- but I think it's worth a try. Just my opinion.

After Christmas & making sure everything worked, I threw the receipt away. It came from KMart & I know they won't honor without receipt & I doubt they would with a receipt. I've heard that they are really funny with exchanges & returns.

I was upset when she dropped it but I couldn't get mad at her. She is 5 and was actually picking up her things to carry them to her room, her hands were full & it slipped out - BAM onto the hardwood floor. I agree that things she be more durable, but this is basically like a little TV, I wouldn't expect to drop a tv & have it work afterwards. But they should have some padding or something on the inside to absorb some shock.

Poor thing, she has to go today and get shots and physical for Kindergarten, maybe I'll take her afterwards to WalMart & get another. They seem to be the cheapest so far.

My DS4's Spongebob edition Video Now stopped working this weekend while he was with his Grandma. Luckily I checked Target and they had 2 left and on clearance (lucky me!) We will be returning the broken one today. He only got it 4 days before it broke so I feel no guilt at all returning it to Target. BTW, he didn't drop it - it just stopped working.

I would call Hasbro's Tiger Electronics division at 800-844-3733 and see if they can do anything for you.

Take the broken one back to Walmart with ya- I give it a 90% chance they will exchange it for ya even without a receipt... (gotta love 'mart)

I know my store is self clearancing (meaning its just our store) them out for 35 for the color (B&W is 10) cause we have over 100 (and we sold about 8 for christmas....)

I say try to take it back to WalMart. They seem to take back everything. I once saw a guy try to return a pair of jeans that he said were "new, never worn". HELLO!! There was an outline of a SKOAL/chew tin in the back pocket. They were obviously worn a lot for the pocket to get that wear pattern! Walmart returned them for new pants.

The Wal-Mart in our area has the Video Now color for $20! I think our store just got in more that they could sell at the "special holiday price".

Although Wal*Mart may return the Video Now to the manufacturer at no cost to them, I think it's fraudulent to try to bring it back to a different store than the one you bought it from.

I would try to return it to the K-Mart. Their return policy may be different from their exchange policy.

I checked WalMart in our area, they are $47. but sold out. KMart had them but they $67. I will ask, but I know that our KMart is very strict about returns/exchanges, etc. I'm not going to take it to WalMart & return, I just wouldn't feel right, since I bought it @ KMart.

I really need one though, DD & DS are now fighting over his. It's his & I try to explain that to her but I think DS is watching it just out of spite. He says, "It's mine, you shouldn't have broken yours." He hasn't used it in over a week until yesterday when I started looking for one for DD.

I think K-Mart will take it back. I bought a picture frame there and when I was placing the glass back in the frame I pressed too hard and the glass cracked. I called K-Mart and told them exactly what happened and they said they would exchange it - no problem. They knew that I broke it and they were really nice about it. BTW- My Wal-Mart has them for $42.

Go to Hasbro's web page and see if they have any kind of support. I had a Leap frog Leapster of my daughter's quit working and went to the web support and sent an email. To make a long story short, I sent it to them and they sent me a new one. All it cost me was the price of shipping it to them. We have had it for a year and it the touch screen quit working.
