I just called my guide to inquire about adding on 50pts @ BWV..He seemed a little to busy to talk and couldn't tell me what maintenance fees would be and kept asking me if plan accordingly to add on only 50pts at BW rather than adding on at my home resort SSR. I dont want to add to points @ SSR. What's it to him where I add on points? He said looking at the system, there were currently 960 pts available at BWV but, that wasnt for sure so, I might not be able to get my 50pts right away. He just didnt seem really eager to help me! Can I call back and talk to a different guide?:confused3 Needless to say, I still don't know what maintenance fees would be for BWV!!!!!!!

Yes, you certainly can ask for a different guide. I understand how these things can be frustrating.

On a side note, fees at BWV for only 50 points would be a total non issue for me. Even if they were 50 cents higher than SSR, that's only 25 bucks/year. :smokin:

I own at BWV and don't know what the exact maint. fees are, but I'm sure someone else here on the DIS will know. Did you ask your guide to get back with you with the info?

As for doing the add-on, they can only look at the computer which is updated once a day...it's possible those points aren't all available, so he is being a responsible guide by telling you he still has to check. Once you give your cc# for the deposit (when you say you definitely want to go through with it), they will place your order so to speak and you'll find out for sure you have the points.

We've added on twice, had to waitlist for extra BWV points, but our experience was similar (other than not asking about maint. fees). We just said we wanted to add on, gave our cc#, and waited to hear back. Not exactly a warm and fuzzy transaction, but I think that's typical. We did get a DVC bag sent to use with the paperwork, a nice suprise. Your guide may have asked about te 50 pt. contract being at BWV vs. SSR because you can't do as much with a few points, maybe he wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting into. As long as you hold firm and state clearly what you want you'll be fine. Good luck!

Thanks for "listening". YOu know he wasn't that disinterested last year when he gave us the tour on site!!!!

BWV maintenance fees for 2007 are $4.85 per point. SSR fees are $4.12 per point. As MG noted, I wouldn't worry much about the difference for that small of a number of points.

I don't know how the system displays the information, but keep in mind that he has to match your current SSR UY with the BWV points. So there might be 960 points in the system but it might not be easy to see if they are your UY or not. And he might not be able to easily determine if any of the points were sold that day. I'm not defending the Guide or his attitude...just trying to offer an explanation of why he couldn't give you an immediate answer.

Thanks..Well, I told him that I found a very helpful board (this one:love: ) and I do plan way in advance. I do understand the only 50pts home resort advantage but, that is okay. We would like to do reserve BWV at 11mos every other year or so. We really don't mind staying anywhere else but, I love BWV. I remember when we bought last year, he really "sold" SSR and we didnt know we could buy BWV...Oh well, live and learn.

:coffee:

See, this is why I love this board!!!!! You guys know everything!
I realize he may be busy with other dvc members adding on before prices go up but, I guess I expect more from Disney folks.

See to me a great guide would have explained that very issue to the OP.

((hugs))

Its easy to expect more, but they can't bend time or space any more than the rest of us can. Disney magic is a little less "real" than we'd like to believe. At the end of the day, your guide wants to process through all those pending contracts before the price goes up, deal with new inquiries coming across his desk, and still get home in time for his kid's Little League game.

Which doesn't excuse any rudeness on his part, but may explain why he wasn't dropping everything to meet your request.

My guide is awesome. We need to remember there are all personalities working as guides. Are you ready to buy your 50 points now? If not, they may not be there when you are. It changes daily at the sold out resorts. When I bought at BWV's, I literally took what they had that day, gave my credit card and paper work was sent to me in the mail. I bought 190 points, so my UY did not have to match up. If you are serious about the 50 points, I would get on a wait list for them. Not trying to defend your guide, if he was rude, but maybe he was rushed.

Good Luck getting your add on. Your guide probablly wanted to make sure you knew the points couldn't be combined BWV and SSR(You are here so I am sure you would know this ) but you have to imagine there are many people that have no clue. Good luck!!!

Our guide quit and we were reassigned a new guide. After not returning my calls for a week, I finally got in touch with him today and I felt like he was a little dishonest with me. :confused3 I was hoping to meet with someone when I am there next week, but now I am not so sure I want to meet with this guide. He just did not seem very friendly, helpful, or honest. I am going to be a pretty easy sell - I can't really see giving an unfriendly, unhelpful guide the comission just because they were "assigned".

Who is your guide?

I added on 100 pts y'day at AKV and it took a lot of calls from me to get a guide to talk to. My guide is Kim Moore - he has been out on disability and is back in the office on Thursday. When we were at WDW in April we met with Susie Farnsworth. She was great and very helpful. Of course she was off also until Thursday.

Well I have hemmed and hawed over this addon and had talked myself into it on Tuesday and knew if I did not get the deposit down then - I might just find a way to talk myself out of it. Persistance paid out and I got to talk to Kelly Jo - she was fabulous. I would love for her to be my guide. She could have very easily just done the deal and went back on her way but we talked on the phone about vacationing and cruising. It was just like talking to a friend. That is Disney magic.

My guide is Larry Hope. I am going to give him a call tomorrow to see if he is in a "selling" mood. Is it because I am only trying to add on 50pts # BWV vs 160 or more at AKV or SSR??

I truly hope that is not the reason. I have bought on a few occasions. We can be repeat customers, right? Maybe he was just having a bad moment. I really try to think the best. If you have a bad call tomorrow, I would ask him. I believe in being direct, sometimes it gets me in trouble. When I bought BWV's, my guide brought up SSR, I think they have to, I replied, "I was not interested in SSR, I want BWV's," He said, "OK", and we proceeded. I will not be treated rudely on the phone, especially when I am getting ready to spend money.

I hope all works out great for you tomorrow!!

:cheer2: Larry is my guide as well. We called him to add on 40 BWV points Dec UY on April 29th and had the points in our account on May 2nd. He was helpful and answered all my questions including the ones about maintenance fees and banking the 2006 points I got with my add on. He actually spent a good amount of time with me on the phone. You must have caught him at a bad time.

Susie Farnsworth is our guide and she's a sweetheart.

I suspect the guides are all pretty busy right now with folks trying to add on before the price increase.

Can I ask how you came to wanting exactly 50 points for your add-on? If you are planning on 5 weeknights even in the lowest season, you would need 110 points every other year. Depending on the type of accommodations you are wanting, I would take your preferred travel dates and accommodations size, and divide the total number by 2 if you want an every other year reservation at BWV. Five weeknights in a 1 bedroom in January would be 110 points. That means you should be buying 55 points instead of 50.
