Ugh, Caillou...

Do any other parents hate Caillou? I can't stand the way he talks. He sound like he's always whining and is somewhat babyish. DD has been obsessed with him lately and is starting to sound like him! I can't handle it. The show has decent lessons, but I wish he spoke in a less whiny, sing-song voice because I DO NOT want Caillou as a DD.

We call him Whine-ou and turn the channel when he is on.

We don't seek it out--but we have some books and stuff.

I'm not particularly fond of it--but I like the song. We did see a stage version of it and it was cute.

The little boy I watch loves Caillou. He irritates me, but I tolerate him for a few minutes of peace.

The seventeen year old girl who did his voice on the series died in a car accident about a year ago. I don't know who does it not. My younger DD loves Caillou, but I am not a big fan.

I'm just a kid who's 4
Each Day I whine some more
I'm such a whiney brat I'm Caillou

is what my daughter and I used to sing while watching that show!

Caillou got banned at our house after DD called me "stupid" at age 2. I asked her where she heard that word and she said "Caillou."

My thoughts exactly!

Lots of kids like him, DD used to, but why does he have to be SOOOO rude and whiney BEFORE learning the 'lesson'??

Can't stand it, glad my kids are FINALLY past him. Best part is that the local PBS affiliate doesn't show it, and it doesn't seem to be on PBS kids at a time my kids would catch him.

The whining is insufferable. I would even let my kids watch Barney (which I can't stand almost as much) if that was on the same time as Caillou.

What I want to know is-- why is he bald? He's four, he should have some hair.

Yes!!! Why is that???

After 7 years I have also had my fill of the whining Ord on Dragon Tales.

My DS who is 2 is watching Caillou right now. That show irritates me everytime I hear his voice. I'm as sick of Caillou as I am The Big Comfy Couch. DS LOVES that show, it's his favorite. We have 2 or 3 episodes on the Tivo for him to watch but he wants to watch the same one over and over.

 I'll join this club. I can't stand the show and I turn it whenever I see it on.

I thought it was just me!

My son did the same thing at age 2. We've seen about 5 episodes of Calliou in the last couple of years, and I swear 3 of them have been where he calls his friend stupid. We usually watch a Wiggles video at that time. He is soooooo whiney.

I'm so glad I wasn't alone. Generally, I like PBS entertainment more than Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon, but Caillou is making me bald. I told DD that is she talks like him again, he's never coming back on our TV. Unfortunately, she doesn't realize she's doing it.

I have to agree that Ord is getting annoying too. I'm still okay with Barney - he never bugged me before. But DD does't like the setup of the newer shows.

I don't get the baldness either!!!

Ord is getting on my nerves--he is sooo whiney!!! But at least no name-calling ;)

LOL, maybe we should suggest to Monkeyboy to post a thread about who would win, Caillou or Barney?

I can't stand either, although the annoyance factor is much higher with Barney, who was banned at our house before DS6 was even born.

My nephews used to watch him. He's kind of like Charlie Brown on depressants.
