DD has asked for Uggs for Christmas. :confused3 I'm not really up on fashion. I know they are fairly pricey boots, but thats about it.

Where do I get them, do they ever go on sale, is there a similar brand that may be cheaper?

Thanks!

Costco has their version of Uggs. They are Kirkland brand and are $39 for the adult size. They do have kids sizes also but I did not pay attention to how much they were.

They also have various colors

I believe they are only available in the stores and not online.

I bought my wife a set (she had wanted Uggs) and she really likes them. They have also gotten good review on this site.

I think Costco calls them "Shearling boots"

They have raised the price (at least at my costco) to $46.

Go to uggaustralia.com for more info on the Ugg brand and pricing. You will pay $100+ for kids Ugg's. They do not go on sale via Ugg's website. Sometimes you can get free shipping though. Ugg Australia does have outlet stores, we have one in Massachusetts that you can sometimes get a good deal. BearPaw would be a similar brand to Ugg and I believe they are about $80ish for kids, but you will have to check that price since I haven't bought a pair in years. I buy the Uggs for my kids since they have a great guarantee. Any problems I have had with Uggs have been taken care of via the warranty.

Zappos.com has UGGs on sale on occassion. And as a bonus, its free shipping both ways with returns accepted up to 365 days later. We LOVE Zappos.

As a side note, I don't have any UGG boots, but do own two pairs of UGG sandals, and they are the most comfortable shoes I own. In that regard, I think the price I paid for them was well worth it!

If your DD wants UGGS, she probably doesn't want a knock-off brand. Check with her about her feelings on Bear Paws or similar brands before buying something other than an UGG.

Ask your daughter if she wants "Ugg like boots" or Uggs specific. I assumed my daughter (14) wanted the name brand, but even when offered with the name brand she chose the Ugg like versions, Bear Paws or this year she found a pair at Kohl's she liked for $30. Before you spend the money on Uggs, ask your daughter what she is really after! My daughter says she has worn her friends Uggs, and they are too hot for her! Works for me! ;)

How old is your DD?

If she is younger than you may be able to get away with the Ugg-type/style boot.
Anywhere from Walmart, Old Navy, Payless, etc, and online shoe stores sell the Ugg type of boots.
My girls were always happy with Payless Airwalk brand Ugg style boots. We do not live in severe winter weather and it was either those boots or no boots.

Now DD 13 would LOVE Uggs and most all her friends have them, but she will not be getting actual Uggs.

It is very difficult to find discounts on Uggs. I think that Ugg itself stops companies from allowing discount codes on the boots. I know that Kona Sports was allowing discounts, but they were out of the boot my DD wanted :(. If you buy online, make sure that you check over at the official Uggs Website to verify that they are an authorized dealer. One hint is that authorized dealers will NOT have the word "Ugg" in their name or their website URL. Those are most certainly knock-offs and you'll be paying almost as much for fakes as you would for authentic Uggs.

The three most popular Ugg-like brands (Fuggs, as I call them ;)) are Emus, Bear Paws & the Costco Kirkland brand. Emus are almost as expensive as Uggs, especially if you get the shearing on the inside and not wool. Many people are just as happy with their Emus are others are with Uggs. Bear Paws are definitely cheaper in every way then Uggs. You can often grab a cheap pair of Bear Paws at Marshalls/TJ Maxx or Famous Footwear with a coupon. The Costco boots are really nice and very inexpensive.

My DD trashed her Bear Paws 3 years ago in less than a season. Her first pair of Uggs (purchased 2 years ago) were also ruined after a season, but Uggs stood behind them and replaced them for free. The second pair of boots held up very well last year and I was even able to resell them. I bought my DD a paid of Costco boots (they are talls this year and not shorts) and she loves them. I still might buy her a pair of Bailey Buttons but she has outgrown kids sizing and I refuse to spend $160 on a pair of boots for a 12-year old.

My DD is only in kindergarten so we can get away with Bear Paws... I got them at 29.99 at Marshalls and they are made awesome!

If you have a Nordstrom Rack in your area, check that out. Sometimes they have Uggs and lots of other good stuff.

:thumbsup2
Just wanted to chime in and say that my dd's Bearpaws did not make it through one season, they split at the seam where the boot met the bottom.
She is on her 2nd year with the same UGGs and she also has EMUs that have lasted 2+ years. I got the EMUs for under $40 on Amazon, and I think they are even better than the UGGS.

I got 2 of my dd and 2 of my dn EMUs at Stride Rite this past summer. They were on clearance and I had a coupon so I ended up paying $15 each for a pair that originally cost $60. The girl working called her manager just to verify she could us the discount coupon since it would be so cheap.
I was go glad I started looking early for school shoes or I would not have stopped in SR. The EMUs seem to be wearing very well compared to the ones from Target and Old Navy.
If your daughter is ok with fake ones I would not recommend the ones with the foam type bottom they tend to be slippery.

I wore my UGGS for 5 years before they looked to bad to wear longer, but the seams etc were still good on them.............i have never gotten more than 1 year out of a different brand and never found anything that came close to the warmth authentic UGGS offer..............

That said, my kids have the cheaper ones as they out grow them yearly and until they can wear them multiple years the cost is not justified.

Also 6pm.com is Zappos final clearance website. They have daily and weekly specials were certain brands go for fantastic prices. Sign up for their emails to get daily alerts for what is on sale. I bought DH a pair of $100.00 New Balance shoes last week for $22.97 shipped.

The only thing with 6pm is that, unlike Zappos, shipping is usually $6.95 per order. But right now for the holiday season, shipping is free.

Zappos and 6pm are just about the only places I shop.

I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the tip!!

I think it all depends on your DD's age. If she is little she probably won't mind a cheaper brand. I would imagine a child in middle or high school would more than likely want the real thing. Also, at that age I wouldn't mind spending the extra money because their foot growth is probably slowing down and they will get more than a season out of the boots.

They have some odd colored uggs at our Nordstrom Rack right now. I was there today and they had a yellow pair, pink, red and off white. I think they were around $99. I almost got the pink pair but, ended up buying a totally different pair of boots for my dd instead.:thumbsup2 These were women's sizes, I didn't check children's.

I got Emus for myself and my DD after X-Mas last year on Amazon, the last two years they have had a great sale. I think my DD's shorter boots were around $50+ and my tall boots were $60+. I went to the mall to try on Uggs and decided that they weren't any better than the Emus just a lot more expensive. Maybe you can find a better deal on Emus than on Uggs. Of course my DD still want Uggs but I've told her that isn't happening until she is a teenager and her feet stop growing.

shoes.com had a 25% off all sale shoes last week and I got cardy Ugg boots for my daughter in lavendar for $59 (no tax, free shipping...WOOT!). Got a kids size 5...Uggs were on her list!
