Just got back from Six Flags NE. We live about 25 miles north, and what should have been about a 40 minute drive took over 2 1/2 hrs:eek: due to road construction. It was just me and my 2 younger kids (11 and 13) . what can I say- the park was so dirty it was disgusting:( The bathrooms were horrible- at 1:00 p.m. there was no soap in the soap dispensers, no paper towels, clogged toilets, and the floor was so filthy it was black. Poor DD got cold feet and decided she didn't want to ride the big coasters (unfortunately she decided this after we had waited 1 1/2 hrs. DS got to ride it at least. Trash cans were over flowing to the point where there was garbage on the ground everywhere. There was graffiti all over the rides, and chewed up wads of gum with pennies stuck into them in the queue areas of every ride we went on. All I can say is Yuck!!!

Wow, that does sound disgusting. We went to Six Flags St. Louis at the beginning of the summer due to dd getting a free ticket thru reading program at school. I hadn't been there in 5 years and it still looked the same....no new paint or anything to spruce the place up, but it wasn't as horrible as you described. I think I'd write a letter or call someone if it was that bad.

I hear ya!!!
My DH and I went at the end of June and kept saying...sure isn't Disney! It was absolutely digusting!
By the way, did you happen to go into the Joker ride? The pre-ride area was the worst! Plus the ride stunk.

We won't bother paying good money to go there again!

we never made it to the Joker ride. By about 6:30 I had pretty much had enough. You would think with what they charge for admission and parking they would at least keep the park clean.

They do have Superman Ride of Steel though, which is an Intamin work of genius :)

I agree! the six flags here in nj PU big PU!!!! We got season passes this year and feel totally ripped. The park is filthy and run down the people working there are completly rude. And there really is a bad smell in the air. I WILL NOT get season passes there again some of the lines were 41/2 hours long:eek: And they do a thing called fast lane ha ha ha!! they charge you 30.00 dollars for a q-bot!!! I am sorry but for season pass holders it should be free. And the line to get the stupid thing was 3 hours long completly point less!!!and they do it butt backwards my niece waited on line for 2 hours got on the ride was strapped in when 2 people came up and started screaming hey we have fast lane!! the guy made her get off so these people could ride and in the process of waiting for the next ride some more people came with the stupid q-bot and she got bumped again!!! Great adventure is one place that will not see any more of my hard earned money!!

There was a recent thread on the Rumors board "Six Flags vs. WDW". Most of the people there felt the same way. I live about thirty minutes from Six Flags Astroworld and won't go there because it is a pit. The rides are great, but I don't want to have to look at all the trash, peeling paint, and used gum stuck everywhere. Very depressing (the park was MUCH different before SF bought it).

I went to six flags in NJ once, never again. Then we went to Hershey and it is just great there. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.

What a shame. :( It was a really nice family park, when it was Riverside Park and had the racetrack. I haven't stepped foot in it since it was sold to Six Flags

I know Hershey park is much better! But alas nothing compares to our beloved WDW :teeth:

Yep, I hear ya, we were just there on the 13th, and all I did was complain! My DH was sick of hearing it, but he knows what a big Disney snob I am! I was moaning from the moment we pulled into the parking lot. The thing that got me the most was a restaurant that we ate in across from the Superman coaster- the ceiling was leaking all over the main area that everyone had to walk through! I can't tell you how many people almost slipped, and they had one little sign over the drippy area (that was much bigger than the sign could cover!) that said careful, wet floor, or whatever it said. I was like "If this was Disney, this would have been fixed immediately, or the restaurant wouldn't even be open!"

Oh, and then we go to get in line for the Batman stunt show, and it was so hot, with throngs of people lined up, and the a guy comes to the gate and say, "We need 20 more minutes to set up the fireworks!" This old guy was yelling "Is this the first time you've done this show? What the hell?!"

Well, we're giving Lake Compounce a shot on Friday! It can't be worse that that, we hope!

PandyPaws:
That is so true! While it was small, Riverside was clean and enjoyable (and a heck of a lot less expensive). I wish it never changed over...what a disappointment Six Flags NE is!

So sorry to hear of your disappointing day at Six Flags......

My kids used their season's passes at Six Flags in Vallejo, St. Louis and Gurnee this summer. They had a great time.. but to tell the truth all they really care about is "the rides".....

altho Jake will look for a great funnel cake! LOL

Last year we had season passes to Six Flags. This year I decided to try out Lake Compounce. I figured it would be alot easier with the baby. I live about 15-20 minutes from the Lake. SF is about a 45 minute drive for me. I have found some of the employees at The Lake are really nice and some are outright rude. We had a recent encounter with one of the employees. My DS wanted to go on the caterpillar train. So we walk over to it and the guy working the ride says " Darn I was just about to go home". We ignore him but think to ourselves how rude. My DS then gets on the train and slips as he is getting on and he bumps his head and starts to cry. This employee then says "Oh great this is all I need now". I went over to pick up my son and comfort him. As I was walking out the gate with DS I look at my DH and say wow this guy is very rude. My DH then yes this guy is extremly rude. The employee then says "It is not my responsibility to watch your son". This totally ticked my DH off. DH started to yell at this guy and say "we are not saying our son is your responsibility to watch, we are just saying how rude you are about the whole situation, you have been saying nothing but rude comments since we got here. Kids are going to fall and get hurt but you could have some compasion" The employee continues to get really loud with DH I was afraid it was going to turn into fist fight.

Sorry so long. :p

I also have not been since it was Riverside. I was thinking about going but since reading all the negative things I guess I'll pass.

Good grief! Our company picnic is there in a couple of weeks. Makes me want to reconsider going.

Astroworld has become so bad that when our company picnic was held their last Summer I opted to not go. Several of my co-workers who went came back with very little good to say about it. These are people who haven't been to a Disney park and can't make the comparison.

we went to SFNE on saturday. what a HUGE mistake! traffic on the pike! out in palmer at 9am?!! where was everybody going to?

anyway, i hadn't been there in 2 yrs, it was so crowded i couldn't believe it, it was dirty, there is no signage! and the map stunk!

a t-storm broke out while we were in line for batman, never made it on, they closed all the rides. we left in disgust.

superman cars need a paintjob. not that we got to ride it, the line was at least 2hrs long. it was 90 degrees so we went to the waterpark instead. not a chair to be had, we camped out on the grass.

btw: $10 for parking out there is OUTRAGEOUS!

at least i didn't pay gate price, i got tickets thru work for $22 each. so $44 down the drain. :(

dh and i said NEVER AGAIN!

We were at Hersheypark last week and were not impressed at all. Way too many people in the park, the rides were very ho- hum and all very similar and old, even their B&M coaster was nothing very exciting. We liked Chocolate World a lot more. Kennywood in Pittsburgh was quite good as was Paramount Kings Dominion with a lot of ride variation. Water was $3.00 a bottle though, which was ridiculous!

We go to parks for the rides and even without the great theming Williamsburg was wonderful.

This is one of the reasons why Disney does NOT sell gum at any of their stands in WDW. To cut down on this possibility...;)
