I have a feeling this is a silly question, but I have never seen it talked about so here it goes.... if you buy your tickets through UCT and stay on-site, you still get the UEP? Do you just show your tickets and they somehow link them to your room key? I have never stayed on-site at Universal and never bought from UCT so I don't know how it all works.

Express pass is tied to your resort stay, not your tickets.AS long as you are stying at one of the deluxe resorts ( RPR,HRH, PBH) you get express. Cabana bay is not included in those .Once you check in, you take your resort key to the express pass kiosk in the lobby and make your express passes( have your photo taken). The express pass shows your photo and the dates it is valid for.We buy our tickets thru UCT all the time..best prices
Unfortunately, Universal involves carrying a lot of card...Room key, park ticket, express pass( they are all separate since loews owns the resorts, not universal) , and if you are staying club level..club lounge key

Thank you for explaining all that! I assumed everything was linked to my room key ( like Disney). Wait.... How everyone carry and keep track of all those things?!

It's not a big deal. Just have a lanyard or a separate section in your bag for them.

Great souvenir and $10 or less. Supe convenient and waterproof (when closed correctly)!

Well we started off with trips to Disneyland, where they don't have things connected to your room key. And when we were first going you had a paper slip that you showed to get in for early entry and for room charging. So universal feels like home. :)

And then wdw didn't have APs on room keys until this year's MBs, and when we go to wdw we tend to have APs, so again it feels simple.

I bought a waterproof Witz case from rei that I wear on whatever lanyard I have that day.

I use it for wdw too, because MBs are just one more thing I bring. Still need ID in case I get carded for beer and also for "just in case" purposes, credit card in case MB glitches, insurance card in case my day ends at the ER, and some cash. Oh and the AP discount card if I'm using any discounts...

So my universal days aren't any different than my universal days in what I bring to the parks. That Witz case comes in handy!

Ouch. That's a lot of stuff to carry. I was really hoping to avoid having to take a bag to the parks :guilty:

If I need stuff I use a waistpack..Most times I go bag free..Everyone in our group carries a lanyard that holds all the cards. We keep the express pass visisble thru the plastic since they scan it at each ride. With ours they have been able to scan it right thru the plastic without us taking it out.

Awesome advice. I have a clear, waterproof Dandy case that i use for my cellphone on kayaking trips. I guess i use that for all the cards. I can use my cellphone while its in the case, so they should be able to scan the card. What do you use for kids? A lanyard? (I assume everyone needs their own EP card?)

Lanyards that stay closed are great for kids. Everyone does need their own express pass card.

One more question- can it take a while to get the EP card in the morning? We will be hopping over from Disney. The plan was to check- in and hit the park (leave the luggage with bell services). I just to make sure i understand what to expect.

if i don't wear a lanyard to the park, i just stick the 3 cards in my bra.
works for me.

never lost a card yet.

easy peasy

check in and get a room key for all the guests in your room.

photo kiosk in the lobby near check in counter to make your photo express pass cards.
takes all of one minute.
and that is with retakes if you don't like your picture and want a retry for it.
