Someone said this in a Facebook group I'm in. I'm 99% sure they're wrong but ya'll are the experts.

Is Uber no longer allowed to drop off at The Contemporary unless you're staying there or have a reservation?

People keep saying they heard this, but i’ve never seen anyone post it from first hand knowledge. If the guard at the gate won’t let you in, get out before the guard shack.

I suspect that what someone said on Facebook is a repeat of what someone else said on Facebook.

And like Best Aunt, I have never seen one single post from anyone who said THEY were actually turned away.

All I've heard is, "I heard from a girl, who heard from a guy whose friend said a woman who used to be his cousin thinks someone said it on Facebook."

Whenever I am faced with critically-important perplexing questions like this, I always try to introduce a little common sense.

Like, "WHY on Earth would Disney stop someone from coming to their resort???" That just makes absolutely zero business sense.

Yeah well my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw it happen last night.

So I know it's true

How would this even work? I am staying at the CR in 2 weeks and always use rideshare a few times during a stay. I guess if your requesting your ride from CR the guard shack would have to let them in since the rider is already there? Dropping off how would you prove to the ride share driver you were a guest? Doesn't make sense !

Not gonna worry - but I will report back if I have any issues.

They did it with Grand Californian in DLand CA. So I'm more inclined to believe it after that

Some lady claimed it happened to her specifically last month.

Then you go to GF and hop on the monorail

But I don't believe it. Don't care what some random lady said on the internet.

They allow Uber drivers in to pick up. So the driver tells the guard he's there to drop off and pick up too.

Maybe they are turning drivers away who are dropping people off at the Contemporary to walk to MK. It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't let CR guests, or people with ADRs be dropped off.

So you are saying that they won't allow non resort guests in GCL? Do they ask for proof when walking in the door? We walked over from our hotel and weren't stopped or questioned. Seems odd that they lock down a resort

So what if they want to walk to MK? Who's impacted by that? And again, if a driver needs to get in to pick someone off they can just drop off while doing so. I had several drivers dropping off and picking me up at the same time last week. So it's quite common

Umm. I wasn't voting for them to do that. I just wondered if they were cutting down on it. Sorry.

Its just Fake News. I use Lyft to get picked up and dropped off at the Grand Californian.

When Uber was young, the Security cm's sometimes asked for a rider's MB or resort id. They could start doing that again, if they wanted to.

We're having an issue locally where it's become difficult for Uber and Lyft drivers to enter a nearby military post. Ride share is great and serves a purpose, but it does cause concerns if security is an issue. Obviously Disney doesn't require security clearance but I'm sure that any security process is dynamic.

I don't know if this is true or not, but when we uber'd for California Grill in early Feb, the gate wanted our name and the reason for our visit. So they did ask questions.

A safe bet with Facebook.

The Disney groups there are especially terrible for spreading bad information, even by FB standards. I swear I just stay in them for the trainwreck value.
