Uber to Hollywood Studios to possibly get in early

Howdy. First post, great site.

We're going in a couple of weeks, first time since before Galaxy's Edge has opened. I know the park will be opening at 10 and I know the first boarding queue is also at 10. I read that they are letting people into HS early and even letting the rides start early if people are there. Nothing ridiculous, not more than an hour. I'm staying at Pop Century so I know I can ride the gondolas, but I want to try to get there like around 9. I guess my first question for anyone who wants to answer is, would gondolas get me there that early?

I also read that it might be easier to get to and earlier via a car, which led me to think about using Uber or Lyft as I won't be renting a car and will be using Disney transportation. My main question I'd like to ask is, will HS let rideshares in to drop us off and how early might they let that happen?

I really hope I get in to RotR.

A. Yes.
B. You can arrive by car/rideshare approx. 60-120 min., or more, before scheduled opening time.
(When you can enter the park is an entirely different situation.)

I stayed at Pop recently. They are turning cars around if you arrive too early. Orange County sheriffs and Disney security are not allowing people to wait at the side of the rode. They are making people circle back around. They let us up to the booths for parking after 9am and started letting cars through to park around 9:15.

When we used a Lyft to HS during opening week, the ride share cars used a completely separate lane and didn’t get held up in the queue of ‘ordinary’ cars. We whizzed passed everybody.

Do you recall the time you whizzed past ? Maybe you happened to arrive after HS actually opened the parking . Security has been strict following Disney guidelines for capacity. They won’t allow entry without the Okay from HS.

It was in the early days of Resistance, the first Wednesday when they changed the rules! According to my Lyft receipt it was 18 December and we arrived at HS at 4.05 am .
So now are they holding ride share cars in the main queue?

Due to social distancing they arent allowing people in super early anymore, so reports of arriving 2 hours early are not applicable at this time. It is a bit of a timing game because if you approach before they open the parking lot (which has been at more like 9ish lately) you are sent away and have to circle around. When you approach again you may then be behind a lot of cars, may be have to circle again, or may hit it just right and be one of the first few in. But its hard to tell.

Thank you very much everyone for responding. Calee, it sounds like if I can time the Uber arrival at HS to be around 9-9:15, I should be okay?

But, it doesn't sound as if I'd be able to use the gondola to get to HS around the same time frame. I read that gondolas start AROUND an hour before the park opening. Does that sound right?
