Hi, we are visiting in Nov 2022 from the UK.

DH and I are planning on using UBER/Lyft for all our transportation to/from hotel/parks.

Is one better(cheaper/more reliable)than the other?

How long usually will we have to typically wait for a car?

When leaving the airport I assume there is a taxi rank outside. Will a UBER/Lyft be much cheaper than getting a taxi off the rank.

Any other information greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

You will want to put both Uber and Lyft apps on your phone. Sometimes one is cheaper than the other. Sometimes one might have a special going on. Sometimes they let you link to an airline frequent flyer account, so you can earn rewards.

You will want to do this while you are home, to make sure the apps accept your credit card okay. (I know someone from Europe who could not get the Uber app to accept her credit card.)

Once you have the apps on your phone, you can practice and check prices. Tell it where you want to be picked up, and tell it where you want to go.

Rideguru.com is a website which lets you compare pricing.

Your visit is pretty far off, so you'll want to ask again later.

I agree with adding both apps. You can check pricing/availability each time you need a ride. On our last trip (Feb 2020) we mostly found Lyft to be cheaper and more available, but we used both services. We found it to be super convenient and plan to use it for our upcoming trip in a couple of weeks.

As far as taxi vs. ride share from the airport, you can google pricing for both to get at least a rough idea of what to expect.

You can check RideGuru for comparative taxi and Uber/Lyft rates. Be aware that there are multiple categories of Uber/Lyft, and they have different fares.

The RideGuru rates are estimates only, but they'll give you a good idea of the comparative pricing between rideshare and taxi.

RideGuru will show Uber and Lyft fares to be identical, but they won't be in real life. Both companies use dynamic pricing and neither their supply nor their demand are the same -- so their actual prices will differ.

Many of the venues use electronic queues for rideshare, including the airport and most resorts and parks at WDW. There will be drivers available, but because they are in a staging area, the wait may be 10 minutes for them to drive to you. The wait time shouldn't be longer than 10 minutes.

Also be aware that both companies have reduced capacities due to Covid. No passengers are allowed in the front passenger seat, so the X capacity is no more than 3 riders and XL is no more than 5 -- and that's without luggage.

Both apps are reliable and vary in pricing as previously stated, with that said, where are you staying? If you are staying at a Disney resort I would recommend using WDW transportation, some parks such as MK will only allow WDW buses at the park entrance and uber/lyft pickup areas are typically a further walk away in a parking lot or designated area..

We are staying off site :)

Just wondering if there are any new views on my original query 😊 still a long way off and I am guessing with the increase in gas price, this will be more expensive than we originally thought 😬

The advice up above still holds. I haven’t noticed a huge change in rates beyond a $0.55 fuel surcharge on every Lyft ride. My piece of advice is to check the app now on the day and time of the week you plan to request a ride to get a mock quote to have a reference point.

If we have 5 people and luggage will we not be able to use XL?

Thankyou 😊

Ride guru shows taxi fares. Rideguru only shows basic ride share rates. They don't show current fares, resulting from dynamic pricing. In other words rideguru shows MINIMUM PRICING for ride share. I think they used to show actual current fares
