Uber from LAX?

Can anyone tell me the approximate cost of an Uber from LAX to DLR? It will be four of us and our luggage. Usually when it's just me and one kid I do one of the buses, but now with three basically adult kids and me, that's pretty expensive, not to mention the time factor involved. I was thinking if the cost is not that much more, it would be worth it just for the time saved to get an Uber, but other than downloading the app on my phone, I have no experience with this. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

I ran a brief eatimate on Lyft (Sunday Afternoom) and you're looking between $122-$135 for a basic car.

A friend used Lyft from LAX to Grand California 3 weeks ago and it was $38. I also used it from Paradise Pier to the LAX Hilton, it was $38. Uber was $42.

Maybe you were looking at a super high-end car. The normal car should run about $40-$50 ... and for a four-person family with luggage, the Plus version (which is an SUV), should be $60-$80.

thank you for all the responses. It sounds like my budget estimate of about $100 each way will hold..., at least with lyft. Is lyft better than uber?

You would probably need an Uber XL and when we used an Uber XL in February it ran us around $75 each way. According to the Uber website, a regular Uber seats 4 people and may be a Toyota Prius or Honda Accord (or similarly sized). No way would that hold the four of you plus your luggage. Uber XL is either an SUV or minivan.

You may be able to do a Prius if you do your luggage right. I drive a Prius and you can get a lot into one if you 'tetris' your bags. We try and consolidate our packing and usually manage to do away with at least one suitcase by spreading our clothing out. Four adults would equal 3 medium suitcases + totes on laps. Doable.

Sergio must have been looking at super crazy surge pricing, that price for a basic Lyft is insane! If Uber or Lyft is reading $$$ check the other. You should have both apps ready in case one is running surge pricing & then check the other. We ubered with the "basic" (UberX I think?) & it was like $42 door to door. Double that price estimate for the UberXL for all your luggage.
ETA: agree with PP. If 3 adult suitcases UberX, if 4 UberXL.

This is in the opposite direction but a couple weeks ago I did a Uber XL from Disneyland to LAX and it was $88 and that was at about 8:30pm. So I'm assuming the price from LAX would have been similar.

Think the last time we used Uber to go to LAX, was 55. Only 2 people plus luggage. With 4 people and luggage, I would HIGHLY recommend you either use XL, which will probably push it to about 100 or so, assuming no surge, or if you are insistent on using X, call your driver immediately through the app (don't worry, it won't give them your phone #, it will dial through on a number generated by Lyft/Uber) and confirm if there will be room for however many suitcases you have on top of the 4 people. Uber X can be something as small as a Ford Fiest or Honda Fit, or you can luck out with a mini suv or a lexus. you never know.

We're back from our magical 5 days in DL! I wanted to thank everyone again for all the uber advice and say that we used an uberx and it was about $44 each way. We only had four carry ons so even when we had a Prius on the way back, we were fine. It was totally the way to go, as it not only saved us money, it saved major time.
