Uber and Car Seats

Hi there, long time lurker, first time poster. I'm closing in our August trip, staying at Wilderness Lodge, after reading about some of the bus issues here, I'm considering using Uber for our AK & DHS days. I've Googled and tried to find an answer to my question but nothing came up. Do Uber drivers have car/booster seats? It's me, DH & DS7 & DD4, we've been in taxis with no car seats, but I would assume Uber is under different laws since they're not technically taxis. Thanks for any help.

We've had lengthy debates about this in the past, so you'll get different opinions. My interpretation is that a car seat is not required for Uber.

"The child restraint requirements imposed by this section do not apply to a chauffeur-driven taxi, limousine, sedan, van, bus, motor coach, or other passenger vehicle if the operator and the motor vehicle are hired and used for the transportation of persons for compensation."

Interesting. You might be right but Uber takes the opposite position when they attempt to skirt regulations applicable taxis, car services etc. Uber drivers "sneak" into areas like airports, pretending to be a friend picking up a friend.

There are a number of airports in the U.S. which allow Uber pick up.

Uber now has some 'family' cars that are equipped with a car seat. They are harder to come by & are not in every market. I've not looked into Orlando. But, as others said, my experience with Uber is that the drivers tend to let anything go.

A good Uber driver will have a car seat. They have to abide the same laws that you and I in transporting the child by state. If they transport a child without a seat, they are breaking rules, laws and lost their mind. I drove Uber, purchasing a booster seat for a kiddo was a plus to accept a fare.

Smaller children in carry to stroller seats can be buckled in. I don't know how you make the request for a seat as I always had two seats a regular and a booster in my trunk.

You're a good one! And Uber drivers in Orlando would be smart to do this.
As for searching, I know that if I am in a city w/ UberFamily, it shows up as an option.
