My daughter and I spent the day at Huntsville's Space and Rocket Center and of course, I don't go to the mailbox without my D50, much less to a superb space history museum. Here are a few of today's shots:
The awesome Saturn V Moon rocket (1:1 replica)
Actual Apollo 16 Command Module (Crew: John Young, Charlie Duke, Ken Mattingly; 5th manned landing on the moon):
Apollo EVA moon suit, with flag and full scale LM (Lunar Module) replica in background:
Actual F-1 Rocket Engine (five of these monsters powered the Saturn V's first stage):
Space Shuttle (1:1 Replica):
My Space Cadet, rehearsing for some future space mission:
Veteran Shuttle Commander Robert "Hoot" Gibson (five shuttle missions). We did not know he was to be giving a talk, so it was a wonderful surprise!
And, lastly, PROOF POSITIVE that NASA uses only the best camera gear:
