My daughter and I spent the day at Huntsville's Space and Rocket Center and of course, I don't go to the mailbox without my D50, much less to a superb space history museum. Here are a few of today's shots:

The awesome Saturn V Moon rocket (1:1 replica)

Actual Apollo 16 Command Module (Crew: John Young, Charlie Duke, Ken Mattingly; 5th manned landing on the moon):

Apollo EVA moon suit, with flag and full scale LM (Lunar Module) replica in background:

Actual F-1 Rocket Engine (five of these monsters powered the Saturn V's first stage):

Space Shuttle (1:1 Replica):

My Space Cadet, rehearsing for some future space mission:

Veteran Shuttle Commander Robert "Hoot" Gibson (five shuttle missions). We did not know he was to be giving a talk, so it was a wonderful surprise!

And, lastly, PROOF POSITIVE that NASA uses only the best camera gear:

DANG SKIPPY :cool1: What Nikon is that? I can't tell from the picture??
Awesome shots. Looks like a good time was had by all.

Wow- Very nice work. My daughter was looking over my shoulder and now wants to go where she can see (drive) a real rocket. May have to make a day trip over to Kennedy Space Center as part of our trip next month. :goodvibes

Looks like an F-Something (3?), and is surely a film SLR. The pic was inside a space station mockup and was positioned where a connecting "tunnel" would have met the section we were in, had it been the real deal. The photo is meant to represent a station astronaut floating in from some other portion of the station. Since he was toting a Nikon, I just HAD to take and post that pic!

Looks like it could be the Nikon F5. No clue about the lens.

Great pics Ed. Looks like your really getting comfortable with the D50. I realy like the Moon Suit and Space Shuttle shots. Nice work once again.

Yes, sadly our government is known for it's $1,000 toilet seats, $2,000 hammers, and $5,000 snapshot cameras.
