U Haul?

Agree. Plus what happens to the used oil? AFAIK, there is no easy way to dispose of that at a DVC resort.

Carol MN,
May I ask what's the difference if I cook chicken on a stove or deep fryer. We just want convenience for ourselves. Planning trip for Summer 2018 or 19.

BTW, what is AFAIK?

I considered that, but not enough bathrooms for me and CCV is which resort?

Copper Creek - the new villas at Wilderness Lodge.

You are over occupancy for a GV though so will need more than that for accommodations. GV's have an occupancy of 12.

The deep fryer - grease fires are number one in kitchen fires I believe. Doing it in your own home is one thing - bringing that risk to where other people are? I wouldn't personally do it myself and as I mentioned it's probably not allowed. I don't know of any restrictions against a chest freezer but I expect if you were seen hauling one in it would be stopped - honestly it's just a bit overkill for a vacation in hotel accommodations.

For me, difference is the amount of oil. I worry that encouraging deep fryers means people will just pour it down the sink. At best, that just pollutes the Florida waterways and manages to get through all the pipes without clogging anything. How many would think to bring a suitable container to cool used oil and one that wouldn't butst open after disposal in the trash?

FWIW (For What It's Worth), convenience for me is eating out or buying grocery store rotisserie chicken, not cooking those kind of meals in the villa. It's my vacation, too and I prefer not to spend it in the kitchen, even though I like to cook. But YMMV.

P.S. Up in my neck of the woods, deep fryers are quite popular for deep frying turkey around Thanksgiving. Every year, we have several fires - sometimes they burn down a garage or a large potion of the house. I'm not a fan. Too many do not use them safely so I really do not think Disney wants them in their resorts.

Same neck of the woods and we use ours mostly for frying fish - only in the Summer and only outside. We never fry anything that requires large amounts of oil (more than maybe a quarter of the inch) in the house. Too much grease and it stinks to high heaven.

I suspect not many people even pan fry at Disney. The quality of the pans provided really aren't good enough for the high heat required, there isn't oil disposal, the kitchens - even in a Grand Villa, are too small for major cooking (I know people do Thanksgiving in them, it would drive me nuts to cook anything substantial in those kitchens).

Carol MN,
1. May I ask what's the difference if I cook chicken on a stove or deep fryer.

2. We just want convenience for ourselves.

1. well the amount of oil unless you are filling up a big pot to deep fat fry not pan fry.

2. But to me on vacation, at WDW, convenience is a food court. :)

Curious if chest freezer is a 20 amp appliance ? I suspect all plugs in Villa are 15 amp except perhaps the washer and dryer. If I am the next guest I would prefer deep frying not occur in my Villa the day or couple days before I check in. Using deep fryer outside probably not an option, there are no grills on the balcony or patio due to fire code. Those news stories each Thanksgiving showing the hazards of deep frying turkeys are fascinating, fire boiling out all over the deck and up house siding. Then Thanksgiving night news showing the fire department fighting the fire which has such a huge head start due to the accelerated ignition.

1. I'm hoping its just a 5 cu ft one so I think they only use a 15 amp plug but I'm pretty sure they figure in the electrical plan for a freezer to be plugged in.

2. Those stories are for propane fryers, wait OP you were not planning on deep frying a turkey where you:scared1::eek::-), where they over fill the kettle or heat the oil too much or don't use an Alton Brown turkey derrick.

But seriously OP I think packing a few 5 day extreme coolers should keep everything frozen for way past 5 days. And you also have the freezer in the kitchen.

Also when I first read this I was thinking "Are they staying at AKL and what are their plans?:rolleyes1" :)

News headlines out of Orlando...

"Two zebras have gone missing from the Savannah at Disney's AKL. Authorities baffled."

Next day...

"Texan Tourist at Disney's AKL crushes leg while transporting deep freezer from room to U-haul. Identity of meat inside still a mystery."

It sounds like you are non-owners, and want to rent points. If I were the owner and discovered you wanted to haul in your own appliances I would immediately refuse to rent, as any damage you do to the unit would be my responsibility. The doors are not built for hauling chest freezers in and out.

Not sure but I don't think you can use one at Fort wilderness campground. I could be wrong but not sure

I think Bell Services would stop you when you brought it into the lobby.

I know when I've run conventions at hotels, we couldn't have put anything like that in the passenger elevators - only the service elevator.

Go to sams club and buy some pre cooked chicken. You can also pick up other prepackaged items. Get two two bedrooms for extra space.

Can you park a uhaul @ a DVC and does a Grand Villa have a chest size deep freezer?

Instead of a questionable deep freezer, maybe consider an electric cooler? They're not intended for long term refrigeration but definitely good for a few days, and you can get an adapter and plug them in in your vehicle if you want to bring stuff from home and have a long journey. Note, you have to plug them in several hours before putting food in there.

And since it sounds like you're driving down, keep in mind that there are lots of grocery stores near WDW. It might be more relaxing to just make a grocery run or even two, rather than hauling appliances around.

Not withstanding the jokes about mistaking AK's Kilamanjaro Safari for an actual safari in a game park, I recalled a movie where a killer put his female victim into a chest freezer. He kept the chest freezer in a U-Haul for convenience of moving it around. He had it plugged in using an outdoor extension cord. His neighbors thought he was a hunter, and kept his deer meat in it.
