5 weeks ago I emailed dvc to request info on purchase into the DVC. Two days later Raquel called me - very nice lady - and said she would mail me out all the info on joining. I also told her that I did have a couple questions and she said I would need to speak with a DVC salesperson. My rep would be Megan Moriarty. Unfortunately she was not available so I left her a voice mail.

Two weeks go by and no DVC info and no call from Megan. I called again and spoke to another very nice CM and put me through to Megan's voice mail again - left message again.

Another week goes by - had received the info in the mail - but still no call back from Megan. So I called Megan's direct line that was in the info packet they sent me. Left another voice mail.

Now another week has gone by and still no call from Megan!!

Is this typical?

I hope not!!!

What has been your experience when first inquiring about DVC?

I was very nice and upbeat when leaving all my voicemails. Could it be that because I'm a California resident she doesn't want to take the time to call me back - knowing that I'd have to be in WDW to purchase?

Thanks for your input

I think that BCV isn't yet approved for sale to CA residents over the phone. I would think the reason she hasn't called you back yet, is probably because she can't because you're a CA resident.

If you're still interested, I'd call back and ask to speak with ANY guide if Megan isn't available. Let them know that you've been patiently waiting for a few weeks for a call and still have unanswered questions.

Good Luck!

I would highly recommend the guide that just handled our purchase. His name is Byron Helgeson (800) 501-8668, very professional and prompt. A pleasure to deal with.

I have Byron too. He always calls back prompty. He is very professional and no pressure to get you to buy.

I first looked into DVC 3 years ago and talked to him briefly. Did not buy at the time (wish I had though). This past April, when I revisited DVC purchase issue, I called and they looked up the record and got Byron to talk to me again.

He is great.

I also hope service is better than this. I called my guide on Friday for an add-on, and I have not got a call back yet. I understand that he may have had the weekend off, or is very busy so I will give him some more time before I worry.

Our guide when we bought in 1997 was Mark Webb. I understand from my recent trip to the BCV that he is still there. He was also very good, prompt to return calls, answer questions etc.

Mark left previously, he may have returned. I know he was one of our guides along the way and we had to be reassigned because he would not be there anymore.

Forget Disney, buy via a RESALE broker. I can guarantee that your inquiries will be promptly addressed............ no sale, no commission:D :D :D .......

Wow - thanks for all the responses!!!

I've read on these boards about the California REsidence issues and that was one of the things I wanted to talk to her about.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but it is my understanding that certain paperwork has to be filed and approved before sales to California Residences can be done without being physically in Florida/WDW.

I was curious as to the status of that so called paperwork.

Since we are planning another trip for May 2003 and we were considering buying points at BCV and either VWL or OKW. Was planning on buying resale for VWL/OKW but not much shows up for BCV as far as resale is concerned.

Thanks for all your input and I've made note of the names you all have mentioned. If she doesn't call me soon - I'll use your referrals.

Thanks Again!!!!!!!

glewis1123 - We live in California also and just bought a 60 point add-on at VWL. There were some limited points available for Calif residents a week ago, so you might want to check that. We were told that BCV are not approved for Calif yet. Our Guide is Betty Prikryl, she always returns our calls and has even called me on her day off from home. She works Tuesday - Saturday 800-827-7126. Warm Regards and good luck.

If this is the case, you still deserve a call where this is explained to you. The waits you have experienced are unacceptable.

Whether you live in a state that is accepted to buy into DVC or not you deserve the common courtesy of a return phone call.

I would call and ask for any available sales rep. This will be Meaghan's loss!!

My resale went through just fine (even tho DH asked numerous questions and was skeptical!!). I'd go resale again......

Wishing you the best!

How sad. Megan was/is our guide, and I've bragged on her everywhere. She's always been prompt and courteous - maybe I'm naive, but I think she'd hate to know of your bad experience. Megan, hon, if you read these boards, I know these folks would love to hear from you.

We had a wonderful experience with Byron Helgeson as well. He always called back within a couple of hours of my reaching his voice mail. In retrospect I don't think that I reached his voice mail that much, only when he was out on vacation, and at that point he left a contact number with the person that was handling his accounts for that time being.

Byron even called me back on a Saturday afternoon when I had questions for him.

Megan is(?) also my guide and has always called back right away. I'm hoping all is well with her.

If you don't hear soon, however, request someone else.

MJ

I have also had Megan since Veronica left. Very courteous and friendly. I do remember back in Feb when NY wasn't allowed to be sold BCV yet that she couldn't talk to me. I happened to just catch her and she explained that since no other properties were available that she could not discuss DVC or the concept with me. To make a long story short, I flew to FL to buy it and spoke all I wanted :)

In answer to your original question the treatment you have received from DVC is not typical. If the membership is not yet approved for CA a telephone call informing you of this is only common courtesy; let alone good public relations!
If you are still interested in getting info from DVC and weighing all the options, my guide is Judy Kauffman. She is very good and has been with DVC for years, as least as long as BWV has been opened because that's when she became my guide. She is very good about calling you back, I have always gotten a call back within 24 hours from Judy. She is not agressive at all but she knows her stuff and I would be willing to bet she makes a nice income from her job at DVC.
Friends of mine just bought BCV and an add on at BCV and Megan was their guide, they like her very much but there were times they waited 3-4 days for a call back but never 2 weeks!
Good Luck!

Hi

What I don't understand is - if they are not allowed to even discuss on the phone with me about DVC then why:

1. Why Did Raquel call me after I filled out the DVC request for info form on their Website - it included my address.

2. Why did they send me the book on all the resorts with all the point sheets and dues info in the back of the book.

3. Why did they also give me MEgan's business card inserted into the book say that she was my rep.

Hmmmm

Anyways - not going to worry about it - I'll just call one of the other reps.

Truly appreciate all your help on this

Glenda

But... I wasn't home.

She left a message on my answering machine that said she had called before but....

she must have called the wrong number - as she said the line was busy a couple of times she called - I've got call waiting and has never happened before.

Then she said she talked to a man - but my husband says he doesn't recall - typical man thing - lol

Unfortunately she was going to be out all day so I will have to call her tomorow.

She did leave me 2 phone numbers to get her at.

So at least she did call.

Just wanted to let you all know.

Thanks
