For all of you that have been to Hilton Head before, please share with this newbie what a typical day for you is like. This is so different from our WDW vacations that I don't really know what to expect.

timely question - we are going for first time in early Nov. so I look forward to responses

We were there over Labor Day weekend. Our typical day was sitting on the beach under an umbrella while reading a book. We go back to the room around 4ish, clean up for dinner. Either eat dinner in the room or go out.

We go to HHI twice a year and I've never really had an issue with the noseeums but the love bugs are a different story.

We normally go walking in the morning, Hang out by the beach or pool (by the beach) until early afternoon (depends on the weather). Room to relax, shower and dinner out. Different restaurant each night. We have also strolled around the new Shelter Cove area by Kroeger (can't think of the name right now). Took a ride to Pino Gelato. One day we took a ride to Bluffton. We want to try the comedy show next trip.

Most days it is sleep late, take a walk or a bike ride. Go to the ocean, play in the ocean. Play in the pool at the beach house. Have lunch, take a walk, read, play in the pool at the resort. Mix in dolphin watching, shark fishing, sailing, fireworks night (summer), golf, tennis, kayaking, a day in Savannah, doing some of the resort activities and some shopping and it is a relaxing week.

We go to the beach one morning to watch the sunrise.

Well we are at HHI, right now. Here is our day today. I woke up early (7:00) and my DW woke up late (9:00). I walked around the resort and marina, while drinking my coffee. After DW got up, we went over and spent the morning on the beach. Around 1:00, we loaded our chairs back in the car and then had lunch at Signals at the Beach House. After lunch we came back to our unit and relaxed some. After that we rode around the island a little, seeing what is new (we arrived yesterday). Now DW is sitting out on our porch reading. Plan on having dinner at Sea Shack and then will do a walk on the beach at sunset. That's pretty much our day. Typically for a week stay, we take two days off and go somewhere. Tomorrow we plan to go to Savannah and have lunch at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House. Wednesday will be a beach day again. Thursday we are going to Charleston for the day. That is our typical week at HHI. A very relaxing vacation.

We fly into Charleston when we go to HHI. We spend a day there before going to down to the island. Patriots Point is amazing. The air craft carrier, historical aircraft, submarine and destroyer are worth the time.

The first day is always Tide Me Over for Mickey waffles. After that it's breakfast in the villa

We spend 1-2 days on the beach.

One day at the beach house pool (on pool game day) and arcade/games etc

One day at the resort pool (on pool game day)

One day we devote to resort activities or crafts.

Evenings we bike ride, go to the outdoor movie, camp fire sing along and Smores, go play mini golf. I take an afternoon while DH and the kids fish to lay on the hammock and read.

If it's raining we borrow movies from the mercantile or board games from the front desk.

We've done a dolphin tour, gone to the coastal discovery museum, went kayaking, went to the movies, taken a hand crabbing trip but we've never left the island once we get there.

Morning walk, eat, nap, eat, beach or pool, nap, eat some more, beach or pool...repeat.

We have 2 boys age 12 and 8 so our typical DHHIR day is lots of pool time! Our last trip we got up fairly early each day and did whatever resort tour was going on that morning (beach walk, nature walk, marsh walk). The conservationist Ms. Holly knew us by name fairly quickly that week! The boys made pillows, tie dyed shirts, made shell necklaces, painted shirts with fish, all kinds of stuff. We not big beach people so we weren't on the beach a whole lot. A couple of times for the week. We LOVE our HHI trips. They are so different than our WDW trips. It's an actual "vacation" with lots of relaxing and downtime--something we don't get a whole lot at WDW. :)

we rent bikes (decent price right at DVC) and bike all around (great paved trails go on for miles, plus you can ride on the beach). We also kayak, go crabbing at the end of the DVc dock (catch and release), day trip to Savannah. Usual day is bike, beach, lunch at DVC snack place (don't know if beach one is open during Nov), then bike and pool in afternoon, dinner out, chill at DVC in the evening with shuffleboard, outdoor movie. Summer has a lot of activities for kids/teens. Bike trails are mainly shaded, nice in the summer.
