I have never been and was wondering a few things.

Do you need to bring your own towels or do they have them for you.

Where is a good shaded place to be if you could circle it on a map I would love it. Shade is the most important thing

Anything else for a first timer at the water park. Been an AP for 10+ years.

If shade is important look at seeing if you can rent one of the 'cabanas' (not sure if that is what TL is calling it). They are a little pricey but between my wife and my nephews I knew we needed to secure one for our trip. they do go quick so I would double check.

I can not afford it but would be nice. I hope my mom will join me in the fun and not sit some where reading her book. Is why I was looking for a place that might have shade.

Typhoon Lagoon provides tubes and towels at no charge to all guests.

You may wish to rent a cabana, but if you don’t want to do it due to cost or you aren’t able to get one due to availability, you could face the Typhoon Lagoon surf pool early in the day.

I know the water parks reasonably well and I find giving accurate/actionable advice for specific shade spots to be challenging - there are so many spots on some level you sort of need to just be there and size it up for your specific preferences and family size in person. To me it’s more about setting yourself up for success than telling you to go to X spot - like PP said I’d strongly recommend getting there early, something like 30-45 minutes early. They start letting people in the park 30ish minutes before opening, you’re then held further in the park until opening. That’s a good time to grab towels, a locker if needed, then when they drop the ropes be ready to head in and scope out some shade. It’s not as crazy or impossible as the internet can sometimes make it seem, but it can be useful to be early and move with a purpose to set the groundwork for a fun water park day!

That sounds like the plan we will follow as well. (Water park veterans, first time at TL.) we are thinking grab chairs, head to Crush n Gusher, the tube slides, then wave pool. (Only two of us, so can’t do the family rafts.) Will we be able to get 60-90 minutes of slides in before the lines build on an August weekday?

You can still do the family raft, they might put other people in with you. That is what they did with us last summer! Unless things have changed. I think it was a party of 3 they put in our raft, it was fun!

Yeah, they won’t load just two - at least they haven’t for us this year. It’s turned the ride into a (almost) total turnoff unfortunately. At least the last few times I’ve been this summer a CM was proactively trying to manage group formation, vs. other times I’ve been in the past it was mainly left to guests which was also a little awkward.

I find the first 60’ish minutes the best time to cover a lot of ground. Hit rides (or any re-rides) hard for 60-90 mins then go relax.

I think we got lucky that the party one back from us was 3 people. Didn't really delay us or anyone else. And they didn't mind sharing! I am not even sure we were aware we could not ride as a party of two - we just got in line and no one said anything! Probably should have paid more attention! 🤣
