We just returned from the World this past Tuesday and I was surprised how much fun we had at Typhoon Lagoon.

It's funny because TL wasn't even on our itinerary. It was the 4 disney parks and Blizzard Beach. Typhoon Lagoon wasn't even in the conversation.

Because it was so warm and we had so much fun at BB we decided another water park day would be more enjoyable than the kids getting bored hanging by the pool.

My expectations were low because BB does have more to offer with is why we haven't worked it in our last 3 trips. We always made room for a BB day.

When we do a waterpark we do it right. We get their at rope drop and are literally the last family to leave for the day.

DD9 and DS6 loved the wave pool. It's different from BB because it's just waves every 2 minutes or so and no tubes are allowed. The kids were in there all day. We did the water slides and the family tube ride but the wave pool was a favorite. Who knew..

That is great to hear...thanks for sharing. We are doing our first WPs on our upcoming trip and plan on doing both BB and TL. The wave pool looks awesome and so does Crush n Gusher. We can't wait to go.

I used to prefer BB with its wilder slides and gimmicky ski resort theme,I still probably prefer some of the slides but I think I now prefer TL as it just has a better park layout, tons of trees and some unique experiences like the shark reef, the unique wave pool and Crush n Gusher,it also just has a more relaxed atmosphere.Another waterpark that I prefer to BB is Aquatica next to Sea World,it has several unique features like the fast lazy river, two really good kids areas and better shopping and dining options.Truth be told for me there's no clear cut favorite waterpark in Orlando, they each have unique characteristics, even the older Wet n Wild has several good features. But TL is the one that truly has grown on me and is a favorite.

I personally prefer TL because I think it's so much prettier and love the tropical feel of the place. Coming from PA I don't need extra reminders of snow. My kids of course prefer BB because of all the slides. We plan on gong to both parks on the next trip so everyone will be happy.

Our son loves TL! He could spend all day in the Typhoon pool.

We argue over which water park to hit first. ( girls like BB):rotfl2:

I was all set on TL and now I am considering adding BB to our trip! I hope both are open in November and its warm enough! We were there last Dec and didnt do the waterparks but so many ppl did them.... it was warm though. I am crossing my fingers!

TL is the one water park that hubby has never been to, but it's my fave. We've been twice together and both times, it was rehabbing. We thought we'd try to catch it on our upcoming October trip, but then I found out a few weeks ago that it's closing for rehab the day after we arrive...so guess what we are doing the day we get to WDW? Yep, TL it is. Now let's just hope the weather cooperates.

Typhoon Lagoon is our favorite by far. I personally would choose it over Animal Kingdom any day. We also get there at rope drop, but like AK, we're only half dayers. The only problem for the kids is dodging the pedophiles in the wave pool.:rotfl2:

We love our water park days. Our WP days sound like yours. We secretly look forward to these days more than a regular park day. They are so relaxing. I'll be back there in 2 weeks and can't wait!

We recently returned from another wonderful trip to the World and during that trip we decided to take a day and go to Typhoon Lagoon. It had been several years since we had been there and just wanted to go. We had a great day and decided to get annual passes for both water parks. We had actually forgotten how much fun it was.

Not quite sure why you find a comment like that funny, or even felt the need to say it in the first place. I have never 'called out' anyone on this board before, but that was tacky and borderline offensive!

~We love Typhoon Lagoon, it's our favorite water park. Glad you had fun, OP!:goodvibes

We were there 2 years ago. Other than the water coaster and the lazy river, I prefer BB.

I love them both but I prefer TL to BB.

The theming is better (lush and tropical vs. white-painted cement), the background music is better (surfing music vs.Christmas music) and the wave pool is incredible.

The slides are certainly better at BB (the family raft ride is one of the best rides in ANY Disney park), but to get to them you either have to wait in a long line to go on the chair lift, or walk up a whole lot of poorly themed stairs.

Thanks everyone for the great info on this thread. We have two special needs kids, so we haven't done the water parks before, but we're thinking about it this time.

Hopefully, some of you can answer our questions!

1. After riding the chair lift, are their any steps at the top of BB to get to the family raft ride (Teamboat Springs)?

2. Someone mentioned no tubes in the TL wave pool? Can smaller kids or folks that don't swim as well wear the Disney life jackets?

3. What does everyone think about the Family Raft (Gangplank) at TL? Are there a lot of steps getting up to it?

4. Is there a big difference in the lazy river rides between the two?

Thanks so much!

Life jackets and water wings are allowed in all the water attractions.

In the lazy river only, you can utilize an infant swim-ring that has a filled-in bottom with leg holes so the infant can sit up.

No other floatation devices are permitted in any of the attractions (unless provided by Disney).

We only have three (sob!) days at Disney parks, and I'm thinking we'll get a 2 day base ticket with Waterpark Fun & More - spend the morning at Blizzard Beach (EMH that a.m. at TL) and the afternoon at Typhoon. Will that be cramming too much into one day with an 11 and 15 year old? They've spent probably 12 days at the parks in their lives but have never been to the waterparks.

:thumbsup2 You beat me to it! NO reason for that comment, obviously not a subject that should EVER be joked about. It has happened at TL.

Any thoughts as to doing both waterparks in the same day?

Well Carina, it wasn't intended to be offensive or tacky. We truly do love the park, but over the years, there have been NUMEROUS ARREST made at TL for inappropriate touching, groping and grabbing and the incidences have all occurred in the wave pool. There have been more arrest made at TL for this type of incident then all of the other parks put together. In the wave pool, Pedophiles can all claim they were accidents. I'm sorry if this offends you, but it's good information to know for people taking children to the park. And this information comes from an Ex-Cast Member who use to be a lifeguard at the wave pool at TL. Though you are right, it's not funny.
