Typhoon Lagoon with Young Children

My husband and I have been to WDW multiple times but always skipped the water parks. We are currently planning our next trip for September, which will be our three daughters' first trip (they will be 4yr, 2yr and 7months). After watching videos, the 4 and 2 year olds are showing interest in the water parks too. Would Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach be worth it? Would they be permitted to go on the slides accompanied by my husband or I? Or should we just skip the water parks?

When our kids were young, they enjoyed the pools at the resorts a lot (some have splash areas that are fun for little kids). We didn't bother with water parks; matter of fact my kids have only been once to TL and BB. It's a lot of work to keep track of them; the water parks are pretty big and spread out. It was just so much easier to use the pool at the resort, rather than packing up everything including towels and taking a bus to the parks (we drove when we went, since we were staying off site and had a car).

I'm pretty sure each slide has a height requirement.

Personally I'd skip them with such young kids and a baby in tow.

Thank you, you confirmed what I was thinking. I just wasn't sure if the water parks would give them a break from the parks' craziness or not. But I think we will stick with the pools.

I waited to take my kids to the water park until all 3 could swim. I felt safest that way plus I knew my self or DH would not be stuck with the youngest/younger 2 or the oldest/older 2...we'd be separated often, well the entire day.

I am glad I waited as my youngest was 7 when we went and she was able to swim.

My kids enjoyed the pool just as much, heck I only saw them for a food/drink break during the hours of 1-7 when the pool games went on (this is 2013). I mean I could see them from where I was sitting/swimming but they had so much fun doing the games.

Typhoon Lagoon has an awesome splash pad area for little kids. It's huge! It has a splash pad area with little slides, little pools (where the water is only a couple inches like ankle high), baby water slides, kid tube ride, water cannons, sand, etc. It's really cool. My 5 year loved the area esp the kid tube ride. The water slide was too baby for him he barely moved on it. So there is stuff for your 4 year old and for the 2 year old to do at the splash area. I can see spending hours there. And there is sand to play with next to the pools (kids meals come with sand buckets and shovels). There are some covered seating areas too.

My 4 and 2 year old loved the water parks. TL more than BB due to the Katchakiddie tube ride I think!

But- I also have 2 older kids who utilized the entire water park (and a dad!). I don't know if I would do it if I didn't have the 2 older ones.

Just be warned about TL wave pool- actual undertow like a real beach. Even knee high my little ones were being taken down.

I think with three that little, I would stick to the resort pools. Now if you have a package that includes the water parks at no extra cost...MAYBE I might take the older two for a few hours and stick to the toddler area. That would of course mean splitting up. I would not take a 7mo old to the water park but that is just me. We started water parks with DS was about 5. He could swim well by that age too.

We took our daughters (now 7.5, 3.5, 3.5) to TL and they loved it.
I personally liked BB better for them (we went in March) as I could contain and watch the little ones better.

If you don't have the water park option, then I would probably skip the water parks though and stick to the resort.

We took my 6 year old and 2 year old to BB last year and they both had a blast! 6 year old could swim well on her own and the 2 year old wore a puddle jumper and had a great time. The 2 year old only did the family slide, but there were plenty of other things for him to do. That said depending on which resort and the pool I don't know if it would be worth the extra money (we had military tickets and there wasn't much of a price difference)

I have a 2 yo and a 10 yo. Typhoon Lgoon was the highlight of my 10 yo's trip. She absolutely loved it. We even stayed at Yacht Club and swam in Stormalong Bay everyday and TL was still such a huge hit with her. With our 2 yo, it was too much. However, there are several things for the younger ones if you can split up and one parent take one child and the other take the others. I think for older kids, they will have a total blast if they love the water.

I started taking my son to the water parks at when he was 1. I upgraded my AP and we'd go during morning in the summer. We mostly went to Blizzard Beach because I loved their kiddie area. We arrive around 9 and leave by noon.

I think your two oldest kids would love it! The baby would be tough though. We haven't been since DD was born in November and I don't think we'll go until she can walk.

They LOVED them, between the younger play areas and the "Lazy Rivers," we had a blast. The smaller kids area had waterslides they could go on without us- life guards at the top and bottom and you can see the entire slide. I may be in the minority here, but I say go for it!

The kids area and lazy river were definitely what was attracting us. We don't have any interest in the wave pool. I guess it comes down to is the lazy river and kids area worth it?! Would you recommend TL or BB? Thanks for your input!

We liked Typhoon Lagoon best. They have Catch a Kiddie Creek and the boys both really loved that area. We also enjoyed the lazy river areas. We didn't even go to the larger attractions the first time we went- the kids were younger, and we had a wonderful day. The kids slept well that night, and everyone was happy! To me, it was worth it. We were there for 10 days and it was a great way to have a break from the traditional park schedule and a little bit of an earlier night. Plus, we got some really cute pictures
