Is there a good spot at the wave pool area to drop my Grandmother as a meeting place? Any shade for her? I will be looking for sun to warm up after riding ! Is the wave pool better at TL than BB?

You'll kind of have to figure out the seating on your own, its difficult to describe, though the beach by crush n gusher is more secluded, and less crowded, its not on the wave pool.

The wave pool at TL is big waves you can even body surf. There is a class you can pay for in the morning before it opens where they teach you to really surf. Its just a chop really at BB.

Be there at rope drop and head over to the wave pool. You may want to select something in the back by some of the trees. Be there at rope drop and make your selection quickly ... these seats go fast.

We actually sat back in the area by Crushin Gusher ... it is quieter, allows for sun, but we were also able to access the shade when necessary. A lot fewer people back there so we weren't "sitting on each other" like you will near the wave pool.

I think that's are new favorite place!!

Shady spots go very quickly at the water parks and don't come free again until those people leave for the day. If you aren't there at park opening, you won't get one.

Just wanted to jump in here with a related question if you don't mind b/c it will probably benefit OP as well. My dh and ds are going to TL for the very 1st time and are planning on doing the waterslides first. Sounds like in the responses that seats are hard to come by at the wave pool. They weren't planning on reserving seats first- is that something that they should do? I would think that putting towels down and then going elsewhere would be frowned upon, but maybe not??

Thanks so much for any responses!

Not at all. If you are there, you'll want to scope out your spot and put your stuff down someplace. Nothing like a beach lounger to do that. You are at the water park and are entitled to find a spot to sit as soon as you arrive. Get a good spot by the wave pool and then hit the slides. That's exactly what we do. Except I hit the lazy river and my guys hit the slides. And TL has a great wave pool, much better than the little bobbing pool at BB.

We pick out our spot first, before hitting any rides. We usually go in Sept. and even if not there at rope drop, we have gotten good spots at both BB and TL. I like to grab a spot, in the shade, with a table and chairs. We've always been able to do this. We have a few favorite locations and one of them is usually open.

Yes the wave pool is better at TL. BB is more like constant swells. TL has huge 6 foot waves every 90 sec. except when they are in a bobbing cycle. The screams of the guest in the wave pool have to be heard to be believed. This is the highlight of my DD8's time at TL. She loves it (She does wear a life vest-provided by the parks for free) and someone always holds onto her while the wave is crashing (the waves are very powerful). But it's a hoot! :thumbsup2

And yes, the seating area around CnG is usually less crowded-it's more off the beaten track. Not very close to the river, which, IMHO, is important.

What is the seating like at TL near the childrens section, plenty of shade? Anyone have anywhere particular they like to sit. (we promise we wont go same day as you ;) ) We plan to get there for opening spend a couple of hours but we NEED shade red heads here LOL.

Thank you both for your responses. I will definitely be telling my dh to go and get seating first!

I'll add a note of caution: think about the sun's movement as you select your "shady" spot... what was shaded in the early morning may not be by afternoon. :thumbsup2

This is where I usually park, around Ketchakiddie Creek. There isn't a lot of seating to be had, but a couple of shelters make for nice shade and rain cover, as needed.
