Typhoon Lagoon vs Aquatica

Sorry I'm not quite sure where the best place to post this is?

We have done Blizzard Beach (or Lizard Beach as my kids call it) and absolutely loved it. We were planning on Typhoon Lagoon this time as it was closed during our last trip. But we have just come across some pictures of the kids area at Aquatica which was really impressed my 6 year old. It would be cheaper for us to do Aquatica as its only an extra $15 each on top of our Seaworld tickets whereas Typhoon Lagoon is going to cost us full priced tickets or an upgrade to a PAP from an AP (of course then we could do Disney Quest aswell)

Has anyone done both and have a preference of one over the other. The money doesn't really bother me. We are travelling a long way and don't plan on scrimping just to save money.

Forgot to say that my girls will be nearly 5 and 7 when we travel.

I have no idea what Aquatica is though I'm sure many will.

However, I can tell you that my guys LOVE going to both TL & BB while in DW & I always plan for at least three visits to the waterparks during our twelve day stay. TL has a great kid section (though my guys are now too old for it) & they love the big pool with the waves & could easily spend half the day in there just playing around.

My older son also LOVES doing the swim with the fish/sharks & even pays extra to do the scuba (on the surface) in the second tank. I real treat for him.

Of course, both guys think the water slides are great too!

For me....nothing beats lying in a chair, relaxing in the sun, with something to drink, cold, slushie & usually alcoholic!! LOL!

I have not been to TL but we went to Aquatica last year and my kids loved it. It is very big has lots of different slides and pools and seeing as you are from Australia you will like it because it has an Australian theme. I'm sure whatever you decide it will be tons of fun!

Also when we went it was really new so it was super clean and everyone working there was really nice and helpful. We also rented a cabana which was great so you have somewhere sort of private and out of the sun to rest.

Thanks for the information. I'm not sure which to choose. I did look at the Cabana rental at Aquatica...definitely much cheaper when we are there than the option now at Typhoon Lagoon.

Been to both.

Aquatica is smaller than TL, but we enjoyed both of them. The water area at Aquatica is really fun, but you will get splashed a *lot* by older boys - there is no upper age or height limit. Something tells me that a 5 & 7 year old girls might be bothered by that. Besides that, the slides and the slow lazy river are better at TL (and the slides are better at Blizzard Beach with the exception of Crush n Gusher at TL. Though Crush n Gusher are my all-time favorite waterslides in Orlando).

HTH

I have never been to Aquatica. We are very excited for our first visit to Sea World and Aquatica in August. We have done both Disney parks several times and loved both.
I have to tell you that we went with friends in '07. Their youngest was 3 he also called Blizzard Beach "Lizard Beach." We all thought it was the cutest thing. DS and I always call it that now!
IMO your kids are young so I think the animals at Aquatica may be a lot of fun for them. DS (10) and are looking fun to them.
