Typhoon Lagoon Surfing Lessons!

Ok, we went to TL today and Dh expressed interest in the surfing lessons, my question is - what about spectators? If I buy him the package can I (and the girls) go in and watch?

How much do the lessons cost?

They are $135 per person. But maybe I could take the girls to a breakfast and send DH to surf....that won't fly probably, he'll want to eat too!

As far as I know your family can come in and watch. The cost of the surfing does not include park admission, so if you want to stay afterward you have to buy your admission.

I have looked into the surfing a couple of times. At some point I REALLY want to take the lessons.

Thanks - we have passes so the admission isn't a problem. I would love to be able to let DH surf - the girls and I would be happy staking our spot and starting a sand castle!

The Surfing Lessons are GREAT! We have done them twice. Spectators can come in and watch. You have some lessons on the ground and how to POP up on the board and then into the water.

Take a digital camera as you can take some really good photos usually.

This is something that is well worth the money.

if you are a spectator, do you have to stay right by the wave pool?

My husband, daughter and son are all taking the lessons in July. We were told we could go and watch but it is so early I am not sure my 7 yr old will go for that since she can't take the surf lessons. I would love to hear more about anyone's experience!

Do you know if they teach on long or short boards?

I believe it is on a long board. My college roommate tried to teach me to surf, but no such coordination. Would love to try the controlled atmosphere of TL, though!

My dd did this in April, she had a blast! It was an early morning though and it was nice that typhoon lagoon was empty. There werent alot of people in the class so they got extra chances on the board. Two surfers go into the water at the same time. My dd was wiped out afterwards as they let you go 2 times then you take your board out of the water and go around back to the wave pool. They give you the choice of the first wave which is bigger and the 2nd wave which is a little smaller. My dd tried both waves. I stayed there the whole time with the other parents and took my video camera. They got a certificate afterwards from the surf school from Cocoa beach (the girls got a "Gidget" one)
