I searched and can't really find the answers to my questions.
This will be our first time at Typhoon Lagoon

1. Is opening time opening time or do they open the gates early?
2. pros/cons of renting an umbrella?
3. which slides have big drops (I don't find those fun at all!)
4. Can I wear my water shoes on all the slides? I have terrible plantar fasciitis and can't go barefoot

I can answer to the first question because we were just there recently. They let people in early but hold you at the main bridge. They actually didn’t let us in until about 5 minutes after opening. It was a little rough standing in the sun in a huge crowd

is there any value to the early entry then?

Humunga Kowabunga has a very big drop.

Water shoes can be worn on all slides except the body slides, Humunga Kowabunga and Storm Slides.

My experience they opened the entry at opening but there were not a lot of people. Humunga kowabunga is a 50 foot slide in a covered tube. It is fast but I am not sure what you consider drop it is on an angle the whole way down. Summit plumit is a drop HK is not even close to something like that. If HK is a drop to you or to fast stay to the extreme right on the storm slides as that is the slowest the middle slide is moderate and the left is the fastest.

good info about the angle, I was envisioning like...vertical drop? We have a water slide at our local six flags that is a 50 foot free-fall (https://www.sixflags.com/hurricaneh...urricaneharborla-attractions-bonzai-pipelines) and that's what I was envisioning for HK
