Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

I have never been to either park, but we are planning to go before the kids go back to school. Which would you recommend for kids? I have heard the TL is more shady due to the tropical theme (I like that), but DH and older DS want to do the "fun" slides. My kids are between 12 and 6 years old.

So which is best in your opinion? Any tips and suggestions about the parks are appreciated.

TIA:sunny:

Blizzard Beach!

Better kids area, better slides, better family ride.

And better former lifeguards. ;)

We've been to both and love BB. The kids liked TL too, but nowhere near as much as BB. BB has an area for kids about 6-12 that my kids just loved, with slides and pulley/rope swings perfect for that age. TL seemed to be more for little tiny kids or older kids, not as much for those in between. Oh and BB has plenty of slides for the older ones too, tell them to make sure to hold on to their drawers, though! We saw a ton of people lose theirs on Summit Plummet! :)

I have only been to Blizzard Beach and we all had a blast. I have never been to Typhoon Lagoon, so unfortunately I can't compare the two.

We have been to both, and prefer BB over TL. It seems as though there is more for the little kids to do at BB. DS 6 Loved the ice bergs and water drop in the kids area.

Another question for the experts~ Which day would be better to go to a water park, Monday or Tuesday?

I would go by the weather - Monday or Tuesday were usually about the same, crowd-wise. Cooler days are less likely to be crowded. But warmer days are more fun!

Oh, and you should stick around during the afternoon thunder-shower. They don't last long and the park opens up pretty quickly afterwards. (Though as a Floridian, you probably know that!) And the park is EMPTY after that!

Well, we asked the kids which park they wanted to go to and they all said, in unison, "BB". :teeth: Thanks for all the suggestions!

Any other tips to make the most of the park? Any good places to eat?

I've been to both and I vote for BB. The theming is really neat. My dd6 and neice and nephew ages 5 & 7 loved riding the big family tube ride (Teamboat Springs) with us.
There are plenty of trees and shade.
Get there early to get a chair in the shade.
Ride the lazy river early before it gets jammed up with people because then it's not fun.
Goofy and Mickey made an appearance.
I think if there is lightning and a storm, they will shut the park down completely and send people home. They don't re-open. That happened to us before.

Kids always tell me they prefer Blizzard Beach. As an adult I like Typhoon Lagoon but that is because I love the salt water "shark" pool and the giant wave pool.

Ok don't laugh at me because I'm not a water park person, but do people actually slide down that tall ski slope at Blizzard Beach:eek:

If so where do they land

LOL. No, that one is just for show. There is a waterslide underneath that.

My 4 year old loves wave pools...is there one at Blizzard Beach or is it only at TL? She goes down regular sized body flumes at the water park near us, does anyone know the height limit for the big flumes at either park? She is only 42 inches.

BB has a wave pool with inner tubes you can float in.

I think you need to be 48 inches for the bigger waterslides.

LOL..Thank you for clearing that up for me:o :D

LOL Pongo!:p You definitely deserve a tag for that one!(no offense intended, you just gave me a good laugh for the night!:p )

Ok, another question;

We are expecting BB to be crowded, as we are going early next month. As far as crowds are concerned, is it better to go as soon as the park opens or later on in the afternoon? TIA

I was at BB on July 4th. We went early when the park was opening. I think that is the best time to go. It got very crowded later.
If you go later in the day, you may have afternoon lightning/thunderstorms.
