We are leaving in about a week for a slow paced trip. We have 3 park days left on a Hopper and 5 plus days and will be staying 9 nights on-site. So I thought we'd try to fit in a day or two at the water parks. We have two sons, almost 6 years and 2.5 years old. The 6 year old has had swimming lessons and loves the water although he doesn't really swim yet. The 2.5 year old hates getting water in his eyes during baths, so I'm a little worried about him. Which of the water parks would you recommend for us and why? I've done a search on past posts and some people prefer one over the other, some saying Typhoon Lagoon is better for younger kids but others say Blizzard Beach is. I've been to Typhoon Lagoon before, but about 15 years ago and without kids. My 6 year old picked Typhoon Lagoon and I am leaning towards that one, especially since it is closer to Old Key West, where we are staying part of our stay. And then I was thinking if we end up wanting to go to a water park on another day, we will go to Blizzard Beach.

If you will be there for so many days and you can afford it, why not try both water parks? If I had to choose and I had kids that age, I would choose BB. It just seems their kiddie area had so much more to offer the little ones. Don't get me wrong, your kids will have fun at TL also. Just remember watershoes 'cause the pavement is very HOT , and lots of sun screen 'cause there is little shade.

Have a great trip!!:wave2:

I have read BB and TL close after so many people are let in? Does this include people with hopper passes? I have PS at Chef Mickey at 10:00am the day we plan to goto the water park. Do you think we can still get into the water park around noon?
Thanks in advance!

Have not been to BB.

We went to TL for the first time last Sept and really really loved it! It was perfect for our 4.5 yo. They have a really awsome kiddie area! It's so tropical and relaxing. The wave pool is really awsome! There are lots of trees/shade.

If you buy your kids a "happy meal" at the snack bar, you get a bucket & shovel. Perfect for building sand castles!

Note, we are not "thrill slide" people so I can't comment on any of those. I understand BB is a bit better in that area. TL does have several slides, too.

I have some pictures in my link if you'd care to look. We ended up spending the entire day there. Generally, we only spend 4-6 hours a day in a park.

TL is my all time favorite! We went there last yr and my kids LOVED it. I would head straight to the kiddie area and set up camp. There are alot of things for your aged children to do there and the lazy river is real handy and you can do that together.

You could try goggles for the little one that doesn't like water in the eyes. I do prefer TL.

We love TL! The setting is what has us hooked on it. Being from New England, the snow theme at BB does nothing for us, but that tropical island setting gets us everytime we go!!::yes:: I will admit that the family raft ride at BB is much better than the one at TL, but that isn't enough to make us switch!

Another TL fan here. It's more relaxing than BB and has lots more shade available. The kids' play area is fun too. The Castaway Creek is a great relaxing tube ride that the whole family can do, including your 2.5 yo. My DS and DD love it here because of the wave pool. Your 6 yo will love it and I believe your 2.5 yo will love it too.

LoriAnn630,

Sorry to be posting the same info again, but when we were there last July both BB and TL were closed due to crowds by mid-morning. Even though we had UPH passes, we could not get in because we were driving our car. They continued to admit those ariving by resort buses but closed the parking lot to all others. (We even witnessed others parking on the shoulder of the road as you approach BB and walking across the parking lot.) We complained to the manager of our hotel and he explained that we needed to use the resort buses to guarantee that you can get in on crowded days. We must have not been the only ones complaining because later that day a message was put on the Disney resort channel explaining the above.
