We will be going the last week of April (just booked yesterday!) :cool1:
How do we choose which waterpark to visit? It is myself, DH, DD10 and DS 5.
I know that Blizzard Beach has the wave pool, which I'm not sure about with the 5 year old. And I know that they each have a lazy river (does anyone know if these are heated?) But other than that I don't know much about them and how to make a decision.

What can you tell me about them?

Thanks!

I'm interested in this as well. We'll have a 4 year-old and an almost 1.5 year-old with us. The biggest and baddest waterslides aren't what we are looking for in a water park. :awink:

This is a very good question...

Blizzard Beach is a lot of fun. It is strange to go to a water park and it looks like a ski resort and like there is snow on the ground.

They have one of the best speed slides in the world called Summit Plummit in which you slide down going 55 mph. They also have a lot of good slides and a family water ride where four-five people can go down together.

----------------------------------------------------

Typhoon lagoon has one of the biggest wave pools in the world...you can even take surfing lessons on selct days in the morning before the parks open.

One of my favorite attractions is Shark Reef where you get to snorkell with a wide variety of fish including small hammerhead, nurse, and reef sharks.

TL also has the CRUSH n' Gusher which is a water slide that goes UP-HILL! Love that one! A parent and a chinld can ride together.

----------------------------------------------------

Both have a great kiddie area...some would say that BB has a better one, but I love the tropical surrounding at TL and they have a better lazy river.

Overall for relaxing and for thrills in my opinion...

Typhoon Lagoon!:thumbsup2

It really depends on the themeing that you prefer. Both have good kiddie areas. The Ski Patrol at BB for tweens is a great area for kids ages 8-12. BB has better slides, but TL has Crush in Gusher. My girls prefer either waterpark to a regular park any day.

We've been to both many times. For us, cons:There is a 48" height requirement on several of the slides at BB, the walk to the family slide is insane when the ski lift is down (too many steps for a bad knee!) boring wave pool Pros: better preteen area with t-bar slide, icebergs, and slides, great lazy river, the BEST family slide out of any water park we've been to.
Now for TL cons: hmmm. can't think of any other than the kid area is for toddlers only. Pros: snorkeling (although brief), beautiful lazy river, crushn gusher water coaster, a ton of shade, fantastic wave pool. Hope this helps.

I agree with most of the PPs... it all depends on what you are looking for. I would definitely recommend going to the WDW website and looking at all the attractions at the water parks.

TL has the most awesome wave pool with a lot of chairs around it and there are always lots of little kids playing in the water's edge. The slides at TL are not that bad and most would work for children without totally terrifying them. The lazy river is wonderful and the shark reef is also a lot of fun (they have life jackets) but you should know the water is salt water that is very cold... meaning if you are going to use a razor, don't do it the morning before you go.

BB has the best kid section if you are looking for something for older children. Every time I've been to both, BB was way more crowded and the wait for the slides has been rediculous. The tobogan races are the most fun thing at BB (that may be because I always beat DD and DS:banana: ). There is also a lazy river and wave pool, but just not as good as TL.

Which ever one you choose, you will have a blast and no other water park will ever match up to it!!! Have a great time!!!

We had exactly the same age kids and went to both waterparks. Without a doubt, I would recommend Typhoon Lagoon. In fact, I would suggest Typhoon Lagoon for everyone! Blizzard Beach was like any water park to me (Wet n Wild, Hurricane Harbor) with the difference of the fake snow and chairlift. But Typhoon Lagoon felt more like Disney and had a more clean, relaxing, beach like atmosphere. My fave attractions were the new Crush n Gusher, Shark Reef and wave pool. BB definitely has cool water slides, but the long waits don't make it worth it. I went to Typhoon Lagoon once from 2:30pm to 5pm and had almost the whole place to myself. LOVED IT!!

I freely admit I am addicted to the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. :guilty:

:) Thanks for all the great responses.

I think with the information you all have given me, I will plan for Typhoon Lagoon, then if we have some "unscheduled time" we could try to hit Blizzard Beach.

Thanks again!

Just to warn you that at times Typhoon Lagoon's wave pool has huge waves, very dangerous to smaller kids/people. Lots of crying little ones after they got knocked down and dragged under a bit. I think it happens once every hour?

Also, the kids' section at Blizzard Beach is awesome - lots of water slides, the iceberg crossing area, the ziplines, etc. The family raft ride there is much longer and a lot more fun too. Great for ages 5-10!
