Typhoon Lagoon, is it necessary to bring water shoes?

I am wondering how important it is to bring water shoes? I would guess the pavement can be hot to walk on. Plus walking barefoot all day may hurt your feet. Another reason may be using the public restroom.
Is this even a problem?
Do I need special shoes? What do you guys do?

I would imagine buying special shoes for each person can be costly.

We brought them a few weeks ago and never wore them. I wore my flip flops to the restroom. The pavement was hot, but it wasn't so hot that we couldn't walk, so we didn't bother with the shoes.

I think it depends. Walking barefoot on concrete for a long time gives me foot problems, so I have to wear shoes with at least a little arch support. But my husband and son always go barefoot at the water parks. There are a couple of rides where they make me take my shoes off and hold them. Not a big deal but it is a little more convenient not to have to fuss with shoes.

Have never needed them or even wished I had them at TL. Lots of foot sprays, a fair amount of shade and nice paths. Sometimes at BB I think there are a couple of spots not as shady, but I just walk fast. ;)

I have done it both ways - in the middle of summer they can be great as pavement can be very hot. More often than not I go barefoot most of the day but do always have something to slide on for bathroom breaks

Same here. I brought water shoes but never ended up using them, Used flip flops to go to the restroom. I didn't find the pavement too hot (several trips in October).

We did one year and never did it again. They were annoying. We did bring our flip flops and just parked them under a chair when rode the slides and went to the bathroom.

I always bring flip flops to any water park, including TL and BB. But my feet hurt if I walk barefoot and they are really sensitive to hot pavement. I think it's worth throwing a cheap pair in your bag though. For most of the slides, people leave their shoes at the bottom and pick them up when they come back. I've never had a problem with mine disappearing, but probably a good reason to bring something cheap.

I've never been to the Disney water parks, but I used to go to Camel Beach here in my home state. a lot and I'm a tender foot. No way could I walk around barefoot the whole day. The first time I was there, I tried going barefoot and lasted about two minutes. Had to pay $$$ to buy shoes there.

We never take them but we all wear flip flops between slides and to the restroom.

I'm another flip flop person. I've never brought special shoes to the water parks. But I do wear flip flops in he bathrooms! Eek public restrooms are skeevy lol

Can't speak for Typhoon Lagoon, but I have used them at Blizzard Beach last few trips. Also, with flip flops a little too slippery when you have wet feet.

We wear our Crocs! We don't buy special shoes. We get chairs near one of the entrances to the lazy river, don't wear them in the wave pool, but absolutely wear them everywhere else. The concrete is very hot on sunny days, and it is textured to not be slippery. It is brutal on your feet.
