Typhoon Lagoon in July

We have AP's but wanted to go to Typhoon Lagoon for a day during our stay - we'll just buy a one day ticket and get the (small) discount offered to AP holders. We plan to go early and leave quite early - when we have been there in the past, it has always rained heavily by early afternoon. Wondered if anyone had followed this strategy - left when it got busy or the thunderstorms started (or both) and returned later in day - we thought we might go to DTD to see a movie midday.

Just seemed a waste in buying a day pass at this time of year if we're only going to spend the morning there. What do you think?

We go and stand before the park opens and then leave around 2PM. By then we have had enough sun and don't come back.
