Our August 2023 trip will be our first time at TL and trying to decide if I should reserve a Beachcomber Shack. Here's my plan...Will arrive to TL at opening. We will have to scoot early afternoon (2pm?) to get back to the resort, shower and head out to the Halloween Party. I usually splurge on stuff like this but I don't think it would be worth the money if we will only be using it for a few hours. By the same token, I am not sure if most other seating is out in the sun and we will be baking out there for those four hours. Thoughts appreciated!

How many are going? An umbrella may be a better investment especially if you won't be in the shack that much. But, it is really nice to have a larger area to sit in and better chairs.

This is what I am doing. An umbrella will suit our family of 3 just fine. I can't justify spending money on a cabana that we will use for about 4 hours.

We usually do about 4-5 hours at the water parks (depending on if we eat lunch there or not) and we don't really sit down enough to make renting a cabana worth it - by the time we do all of the slides, we are ready to shower/change, grab QS and then we leave the park. I think you should ask yourself if you are going to spend more time on slides or if you are planning on sitting for a few hours?

The real question is how much will you use the shack? Is your plan to be in the water most of the day? If yes, skip it.

If your going at park open; you'll definitely be able to find seats under cover and in the shade without needing to pay for a shack. We only get a shack if we're planning on going later in the morning/day. You'll also probably avoid the afternoon showers if you're leaving at 2, so to me even less reason to pay for one.

I would say no. You're only at the park a few hours and guessing you will spend most/all of that time in the pool and on the slides. I think you'll be just fine without it.

See, I'm the complete opposite. I would get one, even if it's just for half a day. It's your own little piece of paradise.
A place where you have a dedicated comfortable chair in the shade and you won't have to rush with the rope drop crowd to find a shady spot. A place to put your belongings. Plenty of room to apply sunscreen. Unlimited towels. A free beverage cup and free refills (don't underestimate this in August).

Honestly it depends on budget also. While they’re great, we spend so little time at our chairs I can’t justify spending $375+ tax for a place to keep our belongings for a few hours. I would rent a locker but again, that amount of money is A LOT for our family which plays into my answer.

Like others, we did more water activities in June when we went (just a couple of weeks ago). I couldn’t have imagined paying that much for a place for our stuff, when a locker worked just fine. My kids were in the water from start to finish, as we joined them! Then again, we are “ride” people.

We are renting one for our upcoming trip. We will arrive around 10:30am and have to leave by 5 because we have dinner reservations. It's an indulgence, but I think it will be worth it!

Thanks everyone! I went with the umbrella. That should do the trick. I just couldn't justify spending more on a TL shack than we do for a BC cabana when we'll be on our way by early afternoon. Appreciate the feedback! :)
