Eeeek!    I checked the refurbishment page about a month ago when planning our Oct trip. It said nothing really about TL or BB being closed for repairs (just something about the surfing). Planned the trip, checked back today....they are both closed on days that we have chosen to go!! Staggered of course....BUT my question is, if I re-work my schedule, are they pretty good about re-opening on the days they say they are going to? BB closing Sept. 28-Oct 25 and TL closing Oct. 26-Mar 21......my kids will be sooo upset! Thanks...

I would wish that they would expand the park hours of the one that will be open, because now there will twice as many people there than would be normally.

I have always seen the water park rehabs completed on schedule. One thing is staffing levels have to be set three weeks out and cast schedules are set two weeks out.

This might seem silly but how long does the water to 'heat up'? Are the water parks heated or just from the air temp and the sun?:confused3 Brrrrrrr.

We keep the water in all the slides and pools around 80F (27C) except for Shark Reef which does not have filters, pumps or heaters. What you want is a day that will be bright and sunny and preferably not windy.

If you go on a day that is heavily overcast you will not be able to take advantage of any radiant heating (from the sun) or on a windy day (especially with a dry wind from the North) you will get hit by wind chill.

But a day with the highs in the mid-50s or above which is sunny and calm most people (at least from Northern climates) should be comfortable.

couldn't you just flip the days you were going to each one? there is one open each day..just not both on the same day

Both are open through Saturday September 27. Blizzard is closed from Sunday September 28 through Saturday October 25. Then Typhoon is closed from Sunday October 26 through Saturday March 21. Both will be open again starting Sunday March 22.

We are going 4 days. Usually we do 2 to each. So we go back and forth from one to the other. But I have already made park plans and ADR`s as well...it is throwing a real kicker into my plan...but I`ll just figure it out. I just wanted to make sure the rehab is complete, so we don`t get completley screwed up. Thanks to everyone for the responses. And yes, I wish the park hours were extended too..........

I was bummed too when I realized TL was going to be closed. We love that park. My DS8 is starting to snorkel and I know he would have loved to do that - and I love animals so for me that is one of the highlights. But another time. He hasn't been to BB - because it is usually being rehab. while we are there. He loves the water, so he'll be fine. But the question is Will I?

I love BB too...but the shark experience at TL is very cool.
Our family does prefer TL because it has sand and not so much concrete (and not to mention we are Canadian...and we see enough snow!! LOL). But BB is a great park as well. Personally I think it is the better choice for adults/kids that love slides. We do as well but the wave pool is pretty awesome at TL.:) :)

Do you mean you leave BB to go to TL one day, and leave TL to go to BB another day, doing two water parks on one day, twice?

If so, may I ask why? Wouldn't you get to do more by spending all day at one, then all day at the other on your second day? Doesn't travelling back and forth waste time? I'd also find it a hassle, I think, to pack up all my stuff and leave just to go to another water park and unpack again. :confused3

Just in case it doesn't come across correctly, I'm just curious, not trying to be critical of your choices. :goodvibes

No...I should clarify. We go to TL one day, to a park, BB the next etc.....but I can't do that this year because the rehab transition, is right in the middle of our vacation.:sad1:

Oh, okay. So you'll just have to switch them around a bit, but you'll still get to do them both. I get it now.
:goodvibes
