Hi,
DS asked if I can paint a logo on an item of his. I have the logo on the computer but have never printed out for stencil use before. What type of product do I get? Would it be at Staples or Hobby Lobby type store? Thanks!
I would probably suggest just printing out a copy of the logo on regular paper, get some thick transparent plastic (maybe a transparency or mylar) and just trace the logo with a hobby knife.
They do make materials that you can run through different printers but I would be careful if you are using a laser printer, I can't count how many times we've removed or had to replace expensive $$$ parts in laser printers from people using these kinds of materials that say they are compatible with "laser printers" that just end up melting inside the machine.
Personally, I would use Freezer Paper (the white Reynolds stuff with the waxy finish on one side)...print with the waxy side on the 'back' (be sure to reverse the logo before you print if it has words or a left/right orientation that you want to be sure is correct). Cut out the logo with an exacto knife,IRON the freezer paper to the fabric (thats the advantage of using freezer paper, the waxy side will stick) and then stencil it onto your t-shirt or whatever.
we have an ink jet printer..and I am stenciling onto a piantball marker, so it is plastic, not material...it is also surved so a little tricky. I ended up getting bumper sticker paper, says it can be lifted up and placed down again, so we will see. Thanks for the help
