Two year old at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach

We will be going down next spring and have never tried either of the water parks. Is it worth it with a two year old? What is there to do that would be age appropriate for him? Any insight is appreciated. Also, TL or BB with that age? Thanks!

IMHO, it's not worth it. Both parks have major slides that a 2 year old can't go on. BB has a small children's area but still not worth spending $$ on admission IMHO. You might want to consider booking a resort with a children's splash pad area instead. I think you would get more use out of it.

Thank you! I was kind of thinking the same thing... I would rather not spend a day of helicopter parenting a toddler surrounded by stuff he can't do. Maybe sticking to a resort day would be better for everyone!

I wouldn't totally rule it out. I think both parks are great for all ages. My cousins have enjoyed both when they were toddlers and there was lots to do. We will be going with my toddler (who will be days shy of 2) and 7 year old at the end of August and will probably be spending 2 days at BB and 2 at TL so I will update then and let you know which he seems to prefer more.

Blizzard Beach has Tike's Peak. It's separated from the rest of the park and only has two entrances, which makes it easier to contain toddlers. There is a sandy area there for building sand castles and plenty of seating (some of which is covered). There are three really small slides that toddlers can easily do alone as well as three slides that are a little bigger (but still made for small kids), one of which kids go down on a baby tube (no hole in the middle). There's also a wading pool/ splash pad area that's only a few inches deep with spraying fountains.

Typhoon Lagoon's Ketchakiddee Creek also only has two entry points. There's a splash pad area with small caves and tunnels, waterfalls, and a tug boat that kids can climb in and shoot water cannons. There's also a sandy area there. There are a few small slides including an inner tube one for small kids. Toddlers could also go down the Bay slides (for kids under 60") that let out into the shallow end of the wave pool, though I would recommend one adult at the top sending the child down and an adult at the bottom to catch them.

Both water parks also have the lazy rivers, wave pools, and family raft rides which toddlers may like. You can also rent life jackets for free if you want your toddler to have one.

I think the water parks are great and wouldn't go to Disney without going to them. Obviously, everyone has different opinions and hotel splash pads are great, but not the same in my opinion. As stated before, I will give an update at the end of August/beginning of September (though it might be a new thread) on how my toddler fares at the water parks.

Certainly everyone has their own opinions, but I disagree with this. We're also huge waterpark fans, and have been to BB and TL many, many times. We just got back yesterday from a long trip and went to each park many times. Our kids are older now, but we've been bringing them to the water parks since they were toddlers. Both parks have great areas for young toddlers. They will have a great time there. As noted by LongLiveRafiki, in addition to the kiddie areas, there are lazy rivers, wave pools and family raft rides that the toddlers can go on too. There is plenty for young children at both water parks. Well worth every penny, IMO. Don't waste your money renting a cabana if you do go...there are a TON of shaded chairs you can grab for free.

I'm not against taking young children to water parks, mine have all been going since they were 2 or younger. However, I will caution on the wave pool at TL. We have found the waves there a little more intense than at some water parks. So make sure your child has on a life jacket. Not to mention if adults don't know how to "ride the waves" right there the bottom of that pool can cut the crap out of you.
