I can't believe how close your trip is getting! I'm curious to hear how the split stay works out. The longest I've ever been to Disney is a week but I got so comfortable in my room at the Contemporary I just can't imagine switching mid trip! But maybe someday I'll want to try it.
Just fyi, I'm sitting out on my friend's apartment's fire escape in the Upper East Side as I type this. We've been having a blast in NYC - eating lots of pizza and cheesecake! We headed over to the
Disney Store in Times Square. Do you ever face the crowds to check that out or do you save all your Disney energy for the Parks?
Also, she lives right next to The Barking Dog! I don't know if it's the same one you go to but I was very excited to see it and we're eating there for breakfast tomorrow!
Can't wait for this trip of yours to get started!
We did a split in 2008, 1 night at Pop and then the rest at WL. It was NOT good! I felt like we didn't really start our vacation until the 3rd day after we were settled...and then Joe and I got sick.

But, I'm hoping this one goes better considering we will be at each resort for a week. We also didn't know much about Disney transportation and took the LONGEST possible route from Pop to WL, which drove me nuts. Even that part should go a lot smoother this time!
We actually went to the Disney store TONIGHT!

But that is only the second time we've been to the one in Times Square. We go to the Queens Mall fairly often and they have a small one there. The Queens Mall is crowded, but not Times Square crowded. I try to avoid Times Square! We only went tonight because I had to get me a Mickey themed NYC shirt for the trip! So glad you are having a wonderful time here!!! We were just in the UES tonight too for church. It's such a beautiful area, isn't it?
AND NEXT DOOR TO THE BARKING DOG!

The one we go to is on 77th and York. It's a wonderful area! (we would LOVE to live there) And its' the best Barking Dog IMO! (well, I'm biased because I love the owners Angie and Spiros

) I hope that's the one! I always get the Breakfast Special. It's a huge platter of food, eggs, 2 meats, a yummy biscuit and fresh fruit. YUM!!
I will have a Oct trip. I hope. I am already booked at All stars for Sept 29th ish through Oct 2 or 3rd. My conference starts the 3rd so between the 5K I want to do and what else is going on I will fly over to New Orleans that Monday i guess. Nothing is in sstone yet and I have not even been approved for vacation yet so it is all mushy at the moment.Mushier than I like but I have a room at a great rate - even though it is not POP( my first choice) but for the 5k I get transportation from ASSP
I want to get a room for NYE but I really have to figure out if anyone in my family wants to go. I guess I should just ask.

I figure unless I go alone i will have to leave Jan 1st so maybe alone would be better??? I have to book a room before they are all gone.
If the park is open until 6 or 7 then you really don't need EMH. Summer time Park was open regular hours until 7 and then there was EMH until 10. Maybe they will add some if crowds dictate they should.
I was wondering if you would go back. Now you know they way, and hopefully Henry will not be sick.
You can get a better memory of Sonic.
Oooh, that's right! You will be there for the 40th. I am starting to hear a veryyyy few rumblings about that and something possibly planned. But at least there are rumbings! I hope they have a great party or something! I'd love to be there for it, and do the 5k too. I hope your plans get firmed up! Disney + NOLA is a nice combo - and will be much better in warm October versus freeeeeeeeezing cold NYE.
Ya, I am really excited about the regular hours being extended past 5 pm. I suppose if they keep doing that, PM EMH really aren't needed unless it's insanely busy, like you said. I hope it's not that busy next week!
We are very excited to go back to KSC! We wanted to go back in December 2009 too, but it just didn't work out because we brought Joe's family and did NYE instead of early December like we had orginally planned. I just wish the shuttle launch would get delayed from Feb 24 to March 6!!! Now that would be amazing!!
I'll never forget that crazy time trying to find Sonic! There has GOT to be a closer one to the main road.
Aw thanks Brook! You made my day
The evening EMH for AK were on the schedule 6 months ago (when I was first planning my trip) But then they canceled them. I'm wondering if they are only going to have them in the summer now....or just extend the regular hours for everyone???
About the Yeti -- my understanding is that the problem is not a mechanical one with the Yeti himself but a structural problem with the base that he stands on. I guess it couldn't take the shaking and what not from the roller coaster and the Yeti's movements. EE was made in 3 parts: the roller coaster, the mountain and the Yeti...none of them touch but they are within inches of each other in some places. My personal belief is that Disney knows how they want to try to fix it but it's going to take a long time to do it so they are waiting until the roller coaster part needs a rehab and do them at the same time.
So fun that you are going back to KSC! I went there in 1984 (?) and it's nothing like it was back then....so much to see and do. I was watching a show on Mission Control (pre-shuttle) so cool....I always forget how interesting it all is.
Your welcome - it's all true!!!
I am wondering that same thing about AK. I would love it if they extended the hours all year long and just did away with PM EMH until the park had more things that could be open late. That way in the fall and winter we could still get a taste of the dark AK too.
That sounds a lot like what Magdalene said about the platforms - it's really interesting and makes a lot of sense. So, they could easily turn the Yeti on if they needed to for some reason, but could risk a bigger problem if they did. I hope when it does go down for a refurb that it doesn't take too long! But I guess only time will tell. I still love the ride with, or without, the sweeping arm. It's incredible!
KSC really is very fascinating. I love that they have slowly built the entire complex over time without using one penny of government money, but only from admissions and donations of visitors. I remember one of our tour guides on the bus tour explaining how different things have become over the years, she had worked there for a very long time and had been part of it all.
