Two Weeks until Two Weeks! - Update 3/22 - NEW TR LINK!

We love to go to Hoop-Dee-Doo at Fort Wilderness - you will have to try it out sometime. The whole family laughs the entire time. We have never done the campfire - will have to check it out.

Brook! You're moving so fast over here I can barely keep up!!

Is it true? MEK may be finally joining us on FB?!?! Michelle...you're next!

Okay....all caught up :thumbsup2 I was cracking up over all of the press I got for harassing ME and Michelle about FB!!! :rotfl2: So glad to see it has worked on at least one of my subjects...now to just get Michelle to cave :lmao:

Peer pressure is a very bad thing :sad2:

;)

Joe and I have done Peter Pan, but I don't recall ever bringing Henry on it - due to the lines. It wasn't a favorite for Joe or I, so we've just skipped it.

Oh gosh Brook, it pains me to read this! Peter Pan is my Dumbo, it just screams Disney to me. A trip would not be complete without at least one flight over Neverland! :thumbsup2

Now for your updates: DHS, I'm totally no help when it comes to food in this park. There is just nothing there that is very exciting to me. The dessert case at Starring Rolls does look really good, but I've never gotten anything from there...

A word of warning, the Animation Academy can become very addicting! I'm not sure if they have started doing this all the time or if it was just last time, but when we tried to enter through the gift shop (like Pat told you to do), we were turned away and told it was an exit only. You can skip the film though just by going into the entrance labeled 'character meet & greets only'. But, if you haven't seen the film with Mushu, it's actually pretty cute and it doesn't last very long.

I can't wait to hear what you guys think of the campfire sing-a-long with Chip & Dale. I've had that on my list so many times but we've never been able to fit it in!

We've done both mini golf courses and had a lot of fun at both of them. Winter/Summerland seemed to be the 'easier' of the two courses so you might keep that in mind for Henry :thumbsup2

Resort hopping is always fun. I think the only other thing we've ever done on your list is play mini golf. You know we love playing! If you do manage to fit it in I think you'd probably enjoy Winter Summerland more with Henry. It just seems a little more kid-friendly (not to mention the courses are easier!).

You'll have to let me know about the boat ride from DTD to POR. I really want to do that on our trip, maybe the day we get there since we don't arrive until late afternoon.

Did I read right that you weren't sure quite where the Animation Academy is located? If you do, then disregard the rest of this and maybe it will help someone else! :)

To start out you enter into that little outside waiting area where you can wait for the film. At that point the CM will wave you through a separate line if you want to skip the film. We did that. Then you enter into where Sorcerer Mickey, Incredibles, etc. meet and greets are. The animation academy is on the upper level. You know where the Incredible's meet and greet area is? If you're standing looking into that area, over to your right are some benches. (You go past them as you exit the building) That's the waiting area for the Academy. Sit your butts right down there and wait - classes are every 20 minutes (I think). Inside there's only so many tables/stools, but they have lapboards for overflow (you sit on the floor up front with those).

Hope that helps you out! :)

All the extra things you have planned sound like so much fun! Fun to explore the "extras", and with two weeks there's more freedom to do those things.

1) Resort Hop
We love to explore the other resorts! High on my list for this trip is Pop and the All Stars. I know Henry would enjoy seeing the large characters. Plus, the food courts there are amazing!

We also really enjoy resort hopping! It's a great way to pick out where to stay next!

5) Campfire at Fort Wilderness with Chip & Dale
This is VERY HIGH on the list! We will be doing this while we are at BLT, taking the boat right over to Fort Wilderness, grabbing dinner at the CS, playing on the playground and wandering around the area until the campfire and sing-a-long starts. I haven't figured out what night we'll do this, but once I do, it will be going on the agenda as a solid plan, I really don't want to miss out on it!

I don't think there is a CS at Fort Wilderness. :confused3 I know about Trail's End, which is the buffet type thing. Then I believe there's like a snack stand around the fire area that serves hot dogs, but that's about it. I'd also love to visit Ft. Wilderness sometime!

9) Boat ride from DTD to POR
And then explore POR. I've heard, more than once, this is a wonderful boat ride.

So tell me, what are your favorite out-of-the-parks activities? Have you done anything on my list - what did you think of it? Any other ideas?

We took the boat from DTD to POFQ, walked around, then walked to POR and looked around there. We took the boat back to DTD when we were done. It was a lovely ride and we also really enjoyed looking around the resorts. We'd love to stay there someday!

 about HM. I've honestly been scared to ride it....I hate ghosts and haunted things. I ride ToT because the trill at the end is worth the suffering. But I seriously wigged my first ride on it!!! Many people here have reassured me it's more fun than scary, and I have meant to brave it the past two trips but haven't! Not on a purpose, but i forget about it! :rolleyes1. I have it on my notes this time though, it will get done!!!! Losing DVC is a good incentive. ;)

It's not that scary. I also don't do well with ghosts and haunted house type things. But this is really not scary at all. My main thing is that it's REALLY dark. I can't see very well in the dark, so it's a little annoying. Nothing jumps out that I can recall. And, if worst comes to worst, you can just close your eyes!

Also, I was on the bus with my friends going bowling the other night. I mentioned the SHAMROCK SHAKE and the bus driver piped up with, "Oh, it's the minty green McDonald's shake." :rotfl2: ALL of my friends looked at me like this: :confused3 None of them have EVER tried it! I told them I was disowning them as friends until they fixed that situation. :rotfl:

Sounds like fun... I had to tell you that my husband calls all of my crazy planning my "clipboard of fun," and he doesn't mean it in a cute, cruise-director sort of way. :rotfl2:

I think POR has the Magic Cookie Bars too. LUCKY JOE! If I would have know how good they were I would have used the rest of our snack credits on a bunch!

Out of park stuff.......Wilderness Lodge has a trail that goes all the way to FW and we walked along that one day. My hubby went off the trail and further along and found some caged chicken shack that said something about a virus study!!! It was like straight out of LOST and the Dharma Initiative:rotfl: He even took a picture! I think it's in my PTR??

Hope you get to golf....we have wanted to do that too and always ran out of time.

/
I like your out of parks activity list.

I will confess, mini golf is still on my list to do. Sea Raycers too.

As for AA in DHS I think I went in through the gift last Oct? but being alone maybe they did not see me?? :confused3

I generally look around anyway so maybe I just waited until the coast was clear. :confused3:laughing:

For American Idol we really enjoyed. I did not care if we saw it or not, but after going I am glad we did and would go again. Our good friends saw their "winner" from Hollywood Studios audition and get a golden ticket a few weeks ago, which is cool.

Pool hop wise my girls loved the Poly. The zero entry is fantastic, and the beach was fun to watch the water pageant at too! We have tried lots of pools at Disney and that might be #2 to Beach Club!

Wow! That is very cool that they saw their winner on the real AI! How exciting!

When I read my list to Joe, and mentioned pool hop he immediately said, "The Poly." I love a zero entry, it's soooooo handy with the little ones! The slide looks like fun too.

Up to 2 people can fit in one, so you would probably have to rent 2 so one would have their own boat and one would share with Henry.

I'm pretty positive Joe could drive one even without a license because the minimum age to drive one is 12 years old(though naturally at that age an adult would sign a release). He just needs to show an ID proving he's over 18. ;) When we booked our vacation package we got a rental discount, don't know why or if that would apply to you. But honestly, I would go out of my way to do it and am considering making it a trip tradition regardless of where I stay. :goodvibes If you do it you MUST let me know how you and Joe liked it! They are lots of fun to drive, not the fastest but fast enough to enjoy. If he's really into that you could consider renting the jet skis too? We did that as well which was fun, but we were sectioned off to a small portion of the lake.

Thanks for the suggestions! Definitely going to try some pizza and I've never been to Central Park, so that'll be a must do! And I hadn't even THOUGHT of Ground Zero, never have been there! Would be really incredible to see that. :thumbsup2 And yes - she's in the upper East side!

After I posted that I thought about it...and I think I'd just actually send Joe and Henry out. I'm not big on watercraft of any sort...and I could just enjoy a bit of alone time. :teeth: It does sound like Joe will be able to drive from what you posted and the information I looked up. I think I will call just to make sure. We don't get a discount with our reservation, but we do with our DVC membership! :yay: I will let you know how Joe likes it, I'm going to keep it a surprise for him. I did look up info on the jet skis, they are much more expensive - and I think Joe would really enjoy having free reign of the lake versus just a small portion. Thank you so much for this info!!

Oooh, the UES. Me gusta. That is where Joe and I want to live eventually. I gotta get a job first though. It's a beautiful area! If she is near 77th and York there is a great little restaurant called The Barking Dog. The owners are fantastic people and the food is delicious! We go to church on 81st between Madison and Park - so we are in that area a lot.

I know that MEK...aka future FB participant has both pool hopped and yee hawed with Bob. :rotfl2:
I would be very into pool hopping if staying at a monorail resort...otherwise it seems like too much of a hassle :confused3
The campfire and possible pony ride for Henry sounds like a lot of fun....it will be such a relaxed pace for you to be able to see all of these other sides of the resorts etc.
Yes Jet Blue offers Terra Blue (blue) potato chips. I really like them....the Terra brand also has other types of chips...I remember one having beet, parsnip, sweet potato in the bag. Some of them tasted really...ummm earthy

Tracy

I really enjoyed her pool hopping updates too! I don't recall her Yeehaw Bob...but I have read several other people's updates on it and they are always rave reviews!

I agree with you on the pool hopping. Since we are at BLT we might do this, and at the Boardwalk George the Clown is under refurb so we are forced (oh darn) to go to SAB. :woohoo:

Okay the beet (barf!) parsnip and sweet potato chips sound WEIRD! I can deal with the sweet potato, and probably even like those...but the others...uh-no. I'm looking forward to trying blue potato chips! We have blue corn chips at home all the time and they are nummy!

DHS is always the worst park for restaurants. I bet Henry would like the Sci Fi, though. He would be cute sitting in the car.

At Magic Kingdom, I like the cookies from the Prairie Outpost and Supply. It's fun to get a cookie while waiting for the MSEP in Frontierland.

We did Sci Fi a few trips ago, he really enjoyed it! We will go back there again sometime...their onion rings...yum!!!!

Are the cookies from the Prairie Outpost homemade ones or something? Joe bought one from somewhere in that area during MSEP last trip and it was a "Minnie's Bake Shop" one in a bag-but it was delicious!!! Just wondering if it's the same one, or another cookie that we are missing out on.

OOooh a possible meet up on the 7th at DHS?! I could be down with that!! ;)

I am soaking up all of your ideas!! Love them, especially things like watching Wishes from the Poly beach. We really want this trip to be slower paced and do things my dad and his SO will enjoy and I think resort hopping, ending on the beach for fireworks would be a big hit!:thumbsup2

Sounds good! We can play it by ear via text messages (I'll PM you my number) if that works for you. Just in case something comes up for either of us. I'm really excited about the dance party!

When I told Joe that Poly beach idea he closed his eyes and sighed. :rotfl: The Poly is so beautiful and watching Wishes there gives such a wonderful view! I'm glad my ideas help! I'll post the ones I have for the resorts soon.

Ahhh Mini Golf at Disney. This is definitely a family favorite. All 3 courses are so much fun but I think my personal favorite is Fantasia Gardens. The theming is so much fun with lots of little surprises. That said, it is also the hardest of the 3 golf courses. Henry might do much better at Winter/Summerland. Of those two I prefer the summer side.
Sounds like you have a great trip planned. The DIS meet should be fun for all.

Fantasia would be convenient from the Boardwalk....but if it's hard I do think we'd be better off doing the Winter/Summerland so Henry doesn't get overly frustrated. I will keep the summer side in mind! Thank you!!

The DIS meet is going to be a blast! I don't have a clue as to how many there are of us...but I'd venture to say 20 or more including family members.

First, your day at the Studios sounds great!

Second, LOVE mini-golf at Disney. Like everything else Disney, it is great. We love both Fantasia and Winter Wonderland (Winter Wonderland is a little easier than Fantasia). Be sure to take lots of pics as there are many great photo ops at the golf courses.

We love to go to Hoop-Dee-Doo at Fort Wilderness - you will have to try it out sometime. The whole family laughs the entire time. We have never done the campfire - will have to check it out.

We had Hoop on our list, but the price is what prevented us from doing it. We thought about getting the DxDDP for that night (DVC'ers can pick and choose their dining plan and dates), but we ended up putting it on the "next time" list. I really want to do it - it gets such wonderful reviews!!!

The campfire looks like a lot of fun, I've never read a report where anyone did it, but I've read reviews from various sites. Chip & Dale don't appear every time, but almost always.

Brook! You're moving so fast over here I can barely keep up!!

Peer pressure is a very bad thing :sad2:

;)

Oh gosh Brook, it pains me to read this! Peter Pan is my Dumbo, it just screams Disney to me. A trip would not be complete without at least one flight over Neverland! :thumbsup2

We've done both mini golf courses and had a lot of fun at both of them. Winter/Summerland seemed to be the 'easier' of the two courses so you might keep that in mind for Henry :thumbsup2

I know! I know! I almost didn't want to say that Joe and I didn't find Peter Pan as magical as most people! Maybe it will be a whole new experience this time though, who knows! :goodvibes I haven't seen the movie in AGES either, so that might have a part to do with it too.

I think Joe and I did the film on our honeymoon, but skipped the drawing class. :rotfl: I remember a film with Mushu. We'll watch it again, I think Henry would enjoy it - and it's almost like a first time for us too!

You are the second person to say the Winter/Summerland courses are easier - so we will definitely be looking at those, thank you!

Resort hopping is always fun. I think the only other thing we've ever done on your list is play mini golf. You know we love playing! Yes! I know you have done all the courses! Okay-you are the THIRD person to say Winter/Summerland would be a better choice for H. :thumbsup2 It's a go- Winter/Summerland it is! I think he'll really enjoy the theming too.

I think the boat ride to POR will be a likely candidate to get done since we will surely go to DTD at least once and we love resort hopping and we've only driven through POR on a bus. The pictures I've seen of it are amazing!

You know I approve of the resort hopping. That's one of my favorite things to do. Henry will love the icons at the values, especially so at Movies and Sports, probably.

He'll also enjoy seeing the horses. The pony ride was pretty short and no big exciting thing, but still fun. Seeing inside the big barn was definitely cool.

We have not done the campfire, although it is has been on our list of things to get to, and the same goes for mini-golfing. We keep talking about those things, but they have gotten shoved aside so far. We will get to both of those activities eventually.

I think you asked about PP earlier. We usually go straight to Dumbo, then we go to PP next and ride once or twice.

Did I read right that you weren't sure quite where the Animation Academy is located? If you do, then disregard the rest of this and maybe it will help someone else! :)

Okay...weird...last trip we just walked in and saw the characters - I didn't see anything else. Hmmm....are the characters in one building and the film across the little outside waiting area? I didn't even realize there was an upper level - or see those benches either and we were right there next to the Incredibles! :lmao: This does help though and make sense! I know what to look for, thank you!

I told them I was disowning them as friends until they fixed that situation. :rotfl:

Hmmm...on All Ears I see "Trails to Go" http://allears.net/menu/menu_teb.htm (scroll down a bit). That is what I was thinking. Is this outdated information? If so maybe we can eat at WL, then walk the path over to FW for the campfire. Hmmm :scratchin

We've only explore POFQ a little bit, so I want to check out POR and POFQ again. They really do look like such beautiful resorts - plus POFQ sells beingets. ;)

Good to know about the HM! I didn't imagine it really dark for some reason...but that does make sense! I won't have a problem with the darkness, just the spookiness of the ghosts. It'll be fine though, I get freaked out, but can laugh about it at the same time! I do think I'll end up keeping Henry off the ride though since he's a bit of an easy scare.

That is hilarious about the bus driver and your friends! Yes! They must try it!!!! :lmao:

Sounds like fun... I had to tell you that my husband calls all of my crazy planning my "clipboard of fun," and he doesn't mean it in a cute, cruise-director sort of way. :rotfl2:

That is soooooo funny!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hope you get to golf....we have wanted to do that too and always ran out of time.

Oooh! Chances of us doing POR are high, so that is great news! He will be thrilled! I'm afraid at how much money we'll drop on them. ;)

I have head about that trail! I have wanted to walk it...the caged chicken thing is WEIRD!!!!!!!!! I saw the pic! :scared1: That is totally Dharma-esque! What in the world?!?! Kinda freaky...

And man. Do I miss that show!!!!

We love to play mini golf. Boys always enjoy doing that.

Henry has done it before, but not in over a year - so I think he will really get into it this time and Joe and I both like it too!

And who knows - some CMs say one thing, another says something else...we will probably just do the whole tour/movie/characters/drawing to get the entire experience since we've only ever skipped around in there anyway though! I love that gift shop, it's so cool, so we'll spend time in there with Henry firmly strapped into his stroller to avoid my fear of him breaking the $500 figurines. :rotfl2:

First, your day at the Studios sounds great!

Second, LOVE mini-golf at Disney. Like everything else Disney, it is great. We love both Fantasia and Winter Wonderland (Winter Wonderland is a little easier than Fantasia). Be sure to take lots of pics as there are many great photo ops at the golf courses.

I think you are the 4th person to say Winter/Summerland is easier than Fantasia - so we will definitely go in that direction should we play mini golf. I've seen a few pics from the course and it does look adorable!!

I saw Andy's Room at Movies one time on your report and I knew that Henry would LOVE it. Plus they really do have wonderful kiddy pools at those resorts! He's seen pictures of Pop and wants to go too.

Did the pony ride cost anything? I haven't found information on that.

Both the campfire and mini golf have gotten shoved aside for us on many trips too. The campfire it getting a date and set in stone here pretty soon - if we skip everything else, this is the one thing I want to do. Henry really likes Chip & Dale and who doesn't like s'mores??? :goodvibes

Finally caught up on your last TR and now onto this PTR!:)

Make sure at BLT you do lots of fireworks watching from the Top of the World lounge!!!!!
For other out of park activities when you're at the boardwalk I reccommend Fantasia mini golf and doing the other one maybe when you flip over to BLT. We did Fantasia gardens and we took a bus to the Dolphin and walked over but with being so close at BW it'd be the best time!!

Also I did the hot air balloon at DTD and it was pretty reasonable priced and ALOT of fun.. it also was breathtaking and as a disney lover such as we are it was amazing to see everything I got kinda teary being in the arms of my man and looking out at everything ahh getting misty eyed now!

The last idea is you are in the world on Mardi Gras and I read that POFQ does a bit of a celebration may be worth seeing or checking out since you love resort hopping.

Can't wait to hear more plans!!!!

The Incredibles are on the "upper level" and Mickey, Lotso/Characters from UP, and the little computer stations that you can do different things are on the "lower level"... You walk in from the museum area on the upper level and exit out to the gift ship on the upper level as well. When you're looking at the Incredibles area, to the right there's stairs that go down to the computer stations that tell you what type of Disney Character you are. On the other side of the stairs is where you find the couple of benches where you wait and the door that you go in. I wonder if I can find a picture... or better yet, maybe Robo has a map! :)

Yes! Fireworks from the lounge are definitely on the resort list! If we have a partial MK view then we'll do it from our room too. :cloud9:

I forgot about the hot air balloon! I am scared of heights, but I think I could handle that since it's so big. I wonder if Joe would be interested...hmmm....sounds like it was a very magical time for you!!! :goodvibes

I had forgotten that we would be there during Mardi Gras and had no idea POFQ had a celebration, that would be neat! I'll look into that, thanks for the tip!

Oooooooooh, I think I know what you are talking about! Makes sense now. I had forgotten that Incredibles were up a few stairs. And I have the entire building backwards in my head - despite being in it just a few months ago. :rotfl:

I think the pony ride was like $5.

Very reasonable, thanks Jill!
