Two Weeks until the Yacht Club

I'm a newbie on here and thought I would aska quick question. We are schedule to arrive on November 1st for 10 days. We can't wait!!!!

What I was wondering was if the renovations will be done before we get there. If not, where should we request a room. We have reservations for a standard view, but hopefully we can get an upgrade. Our flight doesn't arrive until 11:00pm so we will be checking in late. Do you think checking in late on a Friday night will help our chance of getting an upgrade?

BTW, this board is great and I have enjoyed trying to catch up on the threads.

Unfortunately, the exact opposite is true - or at least it's been my experience that the earlier you check in, the better your chances for getting something better than the minimum requirement. When you arrive late, you are getting what's left after most everyone else has already checked in.

If possible, you may want to change your first night to a hotel near the airport - then you can save a little money on your first night, and check in first thing the next morning. Then you'll have a little better chance for an upgrade.

Has this been the case for others too?

Of course - I love the Yacht Club - (4 days to go until *my* next stay there!) - and even getting the minimum standard will still be excellent.

By the way, renovations are scheduled to be completed by Nov 6 - so, most rooms will be renovated by the time you get there.

Believe me, an upgrade won't be necessary to have a great stay, so if you want to check in late and avoid the hassle of switching hotels, you'll still likely be happy with your room. And who knows, maybe you'll be really lucky and the only upgrades that are left when you get there will be to Concierge, and they'll give it to you!!
