Last week it was shortened to "Why?"

This week it is "How?"

The "how" is ok. With the "why not" I was ready to pull my hair out!

My Mom says it is my pushishment for asking her "What's that?" for everything when I was DD's age.

Does/did your child have a favorite phrase that drives/drove you nuts?

But why?

as in:

DS: mommy, can I go play video game?
Me: No
DS: But why?
Me: Cause you already played for an hour and you need a break.
DS: But why?
Me: Cause your eyes will get tired
DS: But why?

and so on and so forth....

My son just repeats my name 100 thousand times... that usually makes me want to scream LOL

Both of my kids were stuck on "wassup?" for our entire vacation over the last two weeks. Drove me nuts.

Yes.

My dd is constantly asking if she can touch my *ahem* chest (except that she doesn't say "chest") really loudly. And she usually asks when we're in church and it's really quiet. I have no idea where she got this from. Maybe there are spies in my bedroom?

Life was soooooo easy when I would ask my kids to do something and they would just do it. As they got older, they would exhaust me by asking "why" for everything I said. If it helps any, Jenn, it's a phase.... a loooooong phase, but a phase nonetheless. Good luck getting through it! :)

"BUT MOMMY/DADDY!!!!"

That's what we hear from our 3yo DS.

With my DD3 it is "how come."

It's time to go to Maryann's
How come?
Beacause Mommy has to go to work
How come?
Because I need to make money so you can eat
How come?
So you can grow big and strong
How come?

I got really frustrated with her. But one dya I explained to her that I thought she wasn't listening to my answers, she was just saying how come. I told her I would not answer her questions unless I was sure she was listening to my answer. If she really wanted to know how come, she could then ask. It seems to have worked.

My 22 mo DS word of last weekend was MINE!

We went to the shore with DBIL,DSIL and their 15 mo DS and everything was his.
If it was his toy ..MINE!

If it wasn't his toy...MINE!

If he was playing contently and saw his cousin playing with something else he'd drop everything to stake his claim...MINE!

If you looked like you were going to play with a toy, he'd come over and say ...MINE!

Oh if the answer wasn't MINE! then it was NO!
Fortunately he has recovered from this affliction rather quickly.

Yes, it's mom, do you think Dad would lend me some money? or it's mom, do you think dad has enough ff miles for a ticket so I can go ..................... (where ever the next vacation is planned)

It never ends, he's 27.

Whatever.......

Drives me NUTS!!!!

DD5 1/2: "What?" (with attitude and facial expressions to match) usually after the 3rd or 4th time I have called her name or asked her a question and gotten no response!

DD2 1/2: "Don't want to"

I fell in love with our server on the Disney Magic three years ago -- everytime I asked him if I could have something he would say "Why Not?" instead of "Why?" I asked him to give remedial "why not?" lessons to my kids who would always ask me "why" when I asked them to do something.;)

Whenever I try to leave the house, my three year old chases me down the driveway yelling," I want to tell you sumfing!" I'll stop, but he'll just stand there saying nothing, b/c he doesn't want me to leave. As soon as I start backing up again, he'll yell the same thing. Makes me feel terrible to drive away hearing him yell "I want to tell you sumfing" even though I know he really doesn't. he just doesn't want me to leave.

Last year when I first started going to physical therapy for my neck, my therapist told me I needed to remember to "keep my shoulders down" at all times. I made the mistake of mentioning that to my two teens because that's ALL I heard on our family vacation last summer. "Mom, put your shoulders down" or translated "Mom take a chill"!!! :p

This year they really have no audible phrases just grunts!:crazy2:
