Hi all,

Well today was the day the little ones got let in on the secret and once they stopped fighting over the postcard (seriously will have to have 2 sent next time!) they were very excited! Although DS cried because it's 15 sleeps which is "suuuuccch a long time mummy!!" we've spent the morning watching you tube vids and it all feels very real now!! :goodvibes

Anyway...

My final bit of planning (well probably won't be, but for now...) is to sort out times for our trip into Paris. I've changed up the last of our clubcard rewards for the vedettes de Paris cruise so that's sorted and our number one thing to do is the Eiffel Tower as both the children really want to go to the top!

Seeing as I can't prebook tickets now (so annoying!) I need to work out how we can get into Paris early. Can anyone help please?! We'll be eating breakfast at 7am so will want to get a train ASAP once we're done. Is there a direct train that stops close to the Eiffel tower? How early should we and could we get there for without missing breakfast (kids will be far grumpier if we do!)

Hoping to just mooch about for a bit once we've done our river cruise after the tower and have a relatively slow pace rest of the day but is there anything else nearby that would be good to do with the children? (they're 3.5 and 5)

Thanks!

glad the kids are really excited for your trip. Now you can start all the last minute planning - not long to go. :goodvibes Can't help with the Paris question though I'm afraid.

Hi
Can't help with your question, I do remember hubby saying there is a station near the Eiffel tower but he's out (sorry)!. BUT wanted to say thanks as we are wanting to go on one of the cruises and I didn't realise you could use your Tesco rewards for one of them. Just exchanged my vouchers now so they should be here in time.
Looks like we're there at the same time as you, we're going into Paris on the Tuesday (if all goes to plan), going to the Eiffel Tower then the cruise and haven't decided on the rest of the day yet.

Looking forward to it all though, hope you have a great time.:goodvibes

One way is:-

RER to Charles de Gaulle - Etoile (Arc de Triomphe stop)
change to metro line 6 towards Nation get off at Bir-Heikem

There is an interactive map here
http://www.ratp.fr/plan-interactif/

where you can click on your start and end points and it will suggest a route.

I would get off at Trocadéro and walk down across the Esplanade for the amazing view ( great photo op) and then cross the bridge - It's 3 stops from CDG-Etoile rather than going 5 stops to Bir Hakeim :goodvibes

Rer's start running from 5.20 am and you've got one every 15 minutes - It will take roughly an hour from DLP to the ET.

You will be going in rush hour so be prepared that the closer you get to Paris the fuller the train will get - sit on the inner seats and you'll be ok

:goodvibes

Thanks, they are so excited! We made a countdown calender yesterday to count the sleeps down! I'm glad I didn't tell them any further in advance as the mickey head shapes took me ages to cut out as it was!! :rotfl:

You're welcome! it's a shame I only had enough points for 1 as it is a great offer! If you don't end up using them you can send them back to clubcard too which was handy as last time OH decided he didn't want to do a day in Paris (we're going whether he likes it or not this time though!!)

Thanks for the info and links! Trocadero rings a bell as I think I looked into it before but forgot to jot everything down!!

I'm aware it'll be rush hour, shall have my elbows at the ready! Would it be best to keep DS in his buggy or is that not possible??

Glad your kids loved the surprise! I love your countdown calender! It has given me an idea for hubbies (and son's) surprise even though they will only have 2 sleeps when they find out :rotfl:

I love the countdown calendar too. It made me realise today how close our trip really is. :goodvibes

If you sit on the inner seats you'll have to fold the buggy in the RER I'm afraid. If you are in the outer ones there's room to have it unfolded but you might feel very squashed and the rest of you will be standing by the end of your journey:crowded:
