1) Which resort is closer to Epcot via the International Gateway: BWV or BCV?

2) At 60 days out, DVC makes rooms which are not booked available to the central reservations. If you are booking with points within the 60 day time frame - does DVC has access to both the DVC room AND the ones through the Central Reservation place? So if nothing was available through the DVC inventory - could they take it from the other inventory (if available) and us still use points. I hope this question makes sense!

Technically speaking, BWV's are closer to Epcot I believe - BC itself would be closest on the other side and then the villas are behind it but it isn't too significant a difference IMO.

As for your 2nd question, I was reminded just this morning that MS can indeed pull rooms back from CRO's inventory if need be for points. I should have realized this to begin with  as I booked an extra nights stay on the same day (called MS 2pm Fri. to add that very night to my next days check-in) and paid with points.

HTH's:wave:

I actually think BCV is slightly closer, but only by a couple of minutes. Also, DVC CAN only pull rooms back from CRO that were DVC's to begin with. If there is a room in CRO's inventory that never belonged to DVC's points pool of rooms, then it can't be pulled back to DVC.

Lori is correct - if the rooms are in CRO because they were used as exchanges to everything except II (who takes them itself) - no you can't use your points to get them.

If the rooms were put in at the 60th mark from left over inventory - no problem.

besides the exchanges - DVD kepts 5% (might be less) of the DVC rooms for updating - if no updating then CRO also rents those rooms. You can't use your points for these rooms either - only cash.

BCV is a shorter walk to International Gateway than BWV- but both are certainly an easy walk.

Within 60 days, villas unreserved from Member Inventory are made available to CRO for cash rental. DVC members still have the opportunity to reserve any remaining DVC inventory rooms during that time frame. However, once the Member inventory has been filled, I don't think point reservations will be allowed from any remaining cash inventory - except in special circumstances. (Renovation, maintenance, etc).

It sounds like you're asking if there are no point reservations available 61 days before, but there is cash availability - will MS have access to that cash availability the next day for a DVC point reservation. I don't think MS normally has access to developer inventory except in circumstances as noted.

It can never hurt to call MS to see what is available ... and without calling MS you'll never really know what availability may be found.

Good luck!

Thanks for all of the knowledgeable answers. Doc - I have points in holding and can't make reservations until 60 days out. The wait is absolutely killing me and so I checked on the Disney website and there were 1BRs available through Disney so I was hoping that after the 60 day point those rooms could go either way. I haven't contacted MS to see if there is availability within their system because I can't make a reservation yet because the points are still tied up! Anyway, thanks for your help.

BCV is about half the distance as BWV. The picture below shows the walk from BCV (green line) and BWV (red line).

The satellite photo was taken before BCV was constructed, but the end of the line is approximately at the location of the entrance into the villas.

Hint: For BCV do not walk through the lobby for the BC, that's the long way. Instead, exit the villas, turn left and follow the walkway along the side of the BC. This will take you through a small gate right at the main path at the bridge. Then it's a short walk to the IG.

Caskbill.....awesome response! I knew BCV was closer, but as Doc indicated both are an easy walk to EPCOT.

Of course, BWV is a lot closer to MGM, so it's got that going for it! :p

In honor of Rich - -

Don't forget to count the miles and miles of hallways.....

I just walked it a few days ago - From BWV. I would agree that BCV is closer.

Also, regarding getting rooms, etc. I surprisingly got my BWV room (1BR) only 3 days before we arrived! I wanted to change my reservation (from 2 different resorts). They had me on hold a very long time "doing something" and I got the entire 5 nights over a holiday (Columbus Day) only 3 days out! You never know what you can get. Up until that point BWV was completely sold out for months.
