Two Trips in Two Weeks....A F & W Extravaganza!

(she NEEDS to take food porn or else we don't let her back home....)

:scared1: I will try not to forget!!! But I might miss some of Kevin's food. He doesn't understand food porn and tries to start eating before I take my photos. :sad2: My grandma is good though.....she understands!

I'm here...ready and waiting! :surfweb:

Review should start on Monday or Tuesday after I'm back from the first trip!

Of course! Wouldn't be a proper review with out tons and tons of food porn!!!!
I think you're coming to the same French Lunch and Grand Marnier thing as me...say hi!

Hey! You're at all three of my events! The 3D Desserts Discovery too! I had a Cat Cora Signature Dinner booked too, but I'm still waiting on my cancellation call.

Other than your signature dinners we have basically the same plans! :thumbsup2

I leave tomorrow for the first trip! :yay:

So I should have the first reviews up early next week. Everyone have a great weekend!

Hello everyone! I'm back with my first review...so without further adieu....

Kevin and I got in to Epcot around 5pm on Friday. After a brief stint in FW to ride Spaceship Earth and see Captain EO, we headed for the food!

Our first stop was the Argentina Booth. We split the two food items.

Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Purée:

Beef Empanada:

Kevin also had the Terrazas Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon Wine, which he said was good. I tasted it but I'm not generally a Cab fan so it was no surprise that I wasn't in to it.

We both liked the Beef Skewer. The meat was tender and not over cooked, the sauce was vibrant and the boniato purée was a nice plain starch to compliment the sauce.

Both us also gave good marks to the Beef Empanada...it was hot, with crispy shell, containing a mixture of ground beef with some pepper pieces and a great spice mixture to give it some great flavor.

I'm rating both items, and thus the Argentina Booth an A!

Our next stop was the Mexico Booth, where we split the Ribeye Taco:

This was another wonderful dish. A soft flour tortilla filled with tender ribeye steak, a spicy red sauce, and a scallion. It's served with a generous lime portion to squeeze over the meat. This was a spicy, simple taco, but it was really good. I appreciated the large lime portion. The taco can be quite messy, so we had to eat some of the filling with a fork.

Kevin had the L.A. Cetto Chardonnay wine. I tasted this and thought it paired well with the taco - cool, fruity, and refreshing after the spicy taco. It tasted very different from most Chardonnays I've had, but I can't pinpoint why. I thought it was a very unique wine.

Grade A for the Ribeye Taco....can't judge the whole booth since we only had one food item out of three.

After the booth, we headed in to the Mexico Pavilion to hit La Cava Del Tequila. I had read it was getting really crazy busy with F & W going on, but we were able to snag a table right away.

Kevin had a shot of a Blanco Tequila which he sipped and enjoyed very much. I can't remember what kind it was though.

I went for the Pineapple Margarita - Familia Camarena premium rested Tequila, ginger liqueur, caramelized pineapple nectar, fresh lime juice and agave nectar, with a cactus-lemongrass Himalayan salt rim

This was another good margarita from The Ditch, but I didn't enjoy it as much as some of the others. Perhaps it was the Reposado tequila, since all the others I've tried had Blanco tequila. There was nothing wrong with this drink at all, it just didn't do it for me the way the Cucumber version does. But don't worry, none was wasted - I still drank it all! :upsidedow

We made one more stop at the Hops and Barley Booth in the USA Pavilion.
I got the Lobster Roll and Pumpkin Mousse:

The Lobster Roll was excellent. In the year's past, they had a mayo-based lobster salad which I never heard good things about. This was quite different though - perfectly steamed pure lobster meat, sprinkled with some herbs, on a toasted bun spread with a little mayo. The lobster was sweet and slightly salty and tasted just wonderful. Totally worth a taste even though it's the most expensive dish at F & W.
Grade A!

The Pumpkin Mousse was another hit and a fantastic way to finish the evening's munching. The mousse was light, airy, not overly sweet, and had a great spiced pumpkin flavor. It was layered with dried cranberries and an oatmeal crumb topping. I will definitely be heading back for another one of these on the next trip!
Grade A+!

That concludes the first review....I'll be back soon with lunch in MK!

Everything looks so good! That lobster roll is especially impressive. I definitely would have expected the typical lobster salad, but that just looks delicious! Wish I could have some right now :goodvibes

One of these days I'm going to return to F&W (our last time was 2002, and I only tried one dish!)

Everything looks great. My favorite lobster rolls just have lobster meat and butter, so that looks like an excellent bite. Plus, the pumpkin mousse is perfect for the season, and I love chimichurri sauce so Argentina also looks yummy. :goodvibes

Yay you started! :cool1:

Mmm loving all the F&W goodies - have not had dinner yet so am a bit hungry!

The lobster roll looks yummy. It's a shame you didn't enjoy the pineapple margarita as much as the others but glad none was wasted :)

If you're wondering why the 'Rib eye Taco" looked so funny, it's because I posted the photo of the empanada in it's place.

It's corrected now so you can see the actual Taco. :upsidedow

On Saturday the 15th, we started off with breakfast at the All Star Sports food court.

I didn't take any photos since I've already reviewed the value food court breakfast food several times.

I had the Croissant Sandwich, which has scrambled eggs, bacon, and American cheese. It's decent enough....nothing to write home about, but I like to have protein before a long day at Disney. I had some OJ with my sandwich.

Kevin isn't really a breakfast eater, so he just had a side of sausage. Then....he had some Nescrappe coffee. I had warned him about how awful it was but I don't think he really grasped just how bad it is until he tried it. Back home when I warned him about it, he kept saying "It's ok...any caffeine port in a storm!"
He would not stop exclaiming and making cracks about just how bad the Nescrappe was the rest of the trip. :rotfl:

Lunch was a much more pleasant experience!

I seem to have an inability to eat at any other CS in MK besides CHH. But nothing there appealed to Kevin, of course. He had this memory of really enjoying a burger at Pecos Bills years ago, and insisted on going there.
I generally don't touch the CS burgers, so I decided to have 'take out' from CHH. I bought my food and walked through Frontierland with my tray over to Pecos Bill's!

I found a table while Kevin got his burger.
Pecos Bill Cheeseburger and Fries

Yes folks, that's right, he didn't even make use of a single item from the fixin's bar! Just a plain jane cheeseburger.
He said it was just ok and not as good as he remembered it.

I had one of my favorites from CHH, the Anchors Away Sandwich, which is tuna salad, lettuce, and tomato on toasted multigrain bread. This normally comes with a bag of chips, but I have them omit that and get a side of fries instead.
DSCN2755Medium.jpg

This was just as good as I remembered. There's nothing special to the sandwich, but for some reason, the cool sandwich just tastes really good on a hot, or just warm day in MK. It's also quite a large portion!
I like the Disney CS fries when they're hot. The skins left on definitely give them more flavor.

We both had a caffeine fix in the form of Coke products....no more coffee for Kevin.

A wonderful start to your reviews, Abby! The F&W items look just delish and that lobster roll .....

Lunch at CHH looks good too! I love that tuna sandwich - sooooooo good! Hm, need to have one in February - note taken! ;)

Can I join the party? :goodvibes

My dbf thanks you for posting the pic of the lobster roll. He saw the menu for it and thought it would be the same salad type they sell at CHH. He liked the lobster roll at CHH but wanted something different. He is salivating now! :rotfl:

Thanks Karin. The Lobster Roll was amazing. I was very pleasantly surprised by it.

Of course....the more the merrier at this party!

Lol at Kevin realising how bad the coffee actually was! I think I must be the only person that enjoyed the coffee at Disney World.

Mmm the Anchors Aweigh Sandwich sure looks yummy!

I loved that Anchors away sammie, too- it is really just so good on that grainy bread. :cloud9:

And OMG- everytime I see that pumpkin mousse I drool!! Can't WAIT to try that one!!:yay:

Sorry I've been MIA since I got back. The letdown after the Disney trip....I've been off the boards for a bit.

I'll try to get started back up again soon. There were some truly amazing, very unique and special experiences I can't wait to share.
