Hello everyone! I'm back with my first review...so without further adieu....
Kevin and I got in to Epcot around 5pm on Friday. After a brief stint in FW to ride Spaceship Earth and see Captain EO, we headed for the food!
Our first stop was the Argentina Booth. We split the two food items.
Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Purée:
Beef Empanada:
Kevin also had the
Terrazas Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon Wine, which he said was good. I tasted it but I'm not generally a Cab fan so it was no surprise that I wasn't in to it.
We both liked the Beef Skewer. The meat was tender and not over cooked, the sauce was vibrant and the boniato purée was a nice plain starch to compliment the sauce.
Both us also gave good marks to the Beef Empanada...it was hot, with crispy shell, containing a mixture of ground beef with some pepper pieces and a great spice mixture to give it some great flavor.
I'm rating both items, and thus the Argentina Booth an A!
Our next stop was the Mexico Booth, where we split the
Ribeye Taco:
This was another wonderful dish. A soft flour tortilla filled with tender ribeye steak, a spicy red sauce, and a scallion. It's served with a generous lime portion to squeeze over the meat. This was a spicy, simple taco, but it was really good. I appreciated the large lime portion. The taco can be quite messy, so we had to eat some of the filling with a fork.
Kevin had the
L.A. Cetto Chardonnay wine. I tasted this and thought it paired well with the taco - cool, fruity, and refreshing after the spicy taco. It tasted very different from most Chardonnays I've had, but I can't pinpoint why. I thought it was a very unique wine.
Grade A for the Ribeye Taco....can't judge the whole booth since we only had one food item out of three.
After the booth, we headed in to the Mexico Pavilion to hit La Cava Del Tequila. I had read it was getting really crazy busy with F & W going on, but we were able to snag a table right away.
Kevin had a shot of a Blanco Tequila which he sipped and enjoyed very much. I can't remember what kind it was though.
I went for the
Pineapple Margarita - Familia Camarena premium rested Tequila, ginger liqueur, caramelized pineapple nectar, fresh lime juice and agave nectar, with a cactus-lemongrass Himalayan salt rim
This was another good margarita from The Ditch, but I didn't enjoy it as much as some of the others. Perhaps it was the Reposado tequila, since all the others I've tried had Blanco tequila. There was nothing wrong with this drink at all, it just didn't do it for me the way the Cucumber version does. But don't worry, none was wasted - I still drank it all!
We made one more stop at the Hops and Barley Booth in the USA Pavilion.
I got the
Lobster Roll and
Pumpkin Mousse:
The Lobster Roll was excellent. In the year's past, they had a mayo-based lobster salad which I never heard good things about. This was quite different though - perfectly steamed pure lobster meat, sprinkled with some herbs, on a toasted bun spread with a little mayo. The lobster was sweet and slightly salty and tasted just wonderful. Totally worth a taste even though it's the most expensive dish at F & W.
Grade A!
The Pumpkin Mousse was another hit and a fantastic way to finish the evening's munching. The mousse was light, airy, not overly sweet, and had a great spiced pumpkin flavor. It was layered with dried cranberries and an oatmeal crumb topping. I will definitely be heading back for another one of these on the next trip!
Grade A+!
That concludes the first review....I'll be back soon with lunch in MK!
