I just got back from seeing The Da Vinci Code. DO NOT listen to the critics. Go and make up your own mind.
We really enjoyed the movie. My husband, DD15, and I had read the book, but DS25 had not. Didn't matter. All of us liked the movie. After all the talk about Tom Hanks in the role of Robert Langdon, and all the focus on his hair, I have to say that he was great in the role. Yes, I've seen better hair, but it didn't detract from his performance or the movie.
There were several times during the movie, (and I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying this), when we were almost jolted out of our seats, and there were several times when the audience gasped out loud.
The only thing that bothered me was that the movie changed a few important details from the book. I didn't really see the need for that. My daughter was particularily upset about this but she did say that she liked the movie. Overall, it was a good movie, but of course, the book has more detail in it.
The movie audience was wonderful and that added to the good time we had! The theatre was almost full, and never once did I hear anybody talking, arguing, or wrestling with food and drink containers. There were no cell phones going off or people walking back and forth. We were a very polite audience!!!

Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure they showed ANY previews. Usually you have to sit through numerous previews, but all I remember seeing last night were Coke advertisements. It seemed like the movie started pretty quickly.
