I just viewed the latest Disney: "Magic Kingdom - Where The Magic Lives DVD." It was extremely disappointing to have viewed this souvenir video. It lacks any resemblance of being created or produced by a professional and/or skilled video department. I'm not exaggerating when stating that most serious video-enthusiasts out there could have done a similar and/or better job. The camera work, editing, sound overlay, dialogue, and acting reeks of being made by semi-professionals.

It baffles me why Disney does not utilize their vast television and film-studio personnel, to create a professionally made representation of their parks. And if anyone has noticed, most of the recent Disney live films have all seriously bombed. And it clearly appears that they have utilized the bottom-of-the-barrel crew for this particular DVD project.

In it, the only resemblance of a professionally made scene is a clip of Walt Disney discussing his future of Walt Disney World. Some of the recycled late 80’s footage is acceptable, but everything else looks like it comes from a home-video-camera crew.

This latest souvenir DVD has reminded me again, that most of the Disney items now being sold are way overpriced, however clearly made on the cheap.

It is amazing that they would produce such a lousy souvenir DVD when the vacation planning DVD is free and is actually a very high quality product.

Thanks for the tip! I'll be sure not to buy it.

I totally agree with the quality of the Magic Kingdom DVD. I had posted on this a couple of weeks ago after we watched it.

Besides not being very good quality it also shows lots of old footage and footage from other Disney parks. Like some Space Mountain scenes are from Disneyland. Also the Peter Pan clips weren't from Disney World because in some shots it showed a back seat in the boat. Parts of Haunted Mansion were from another park also, like some of the scenes I think are from Paris's Phantom Manor.

I wish I didn't have to thank you guys for the heads up :sad2:

I was really looking forward to this DVD as a little medicine for my Disney fix but........
As much as I hate to admit it between the demise of the Disney Club and the declining quality of the Disney products it's getting
just a bit more difficult to feel the "Magic"

:rolleyes1

But having said that it's because of the people here, posters and moderators alike, the true Disney fans that the Magic will live
and thrive :grouphug:

Thanks/Sorry
