Day Five: Tuesday, October 22, 2002
We wake up early enough in the morning to go to our 8am reservations at Tony’s Town Square in MK. We head over there in plenty of time via monorail and tell the CM’s at the front gates our names and they checked us off the list to go in very early entry. We walk into the empty area and go to our breakfast and were seated right away. We had a wonderful breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cheesy potatoes and a side plate for us to share of French toast with strawberries and blueberries on it. We saw Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet here and had all our photos taken with them. After breakfast we went to the castle to take photos in front of it and the Partners statue while no one else was around. I have a great photo of just me in front of the castle and no one else around. We walk through the castle expecting to go to the Peter Pan ride, but right at the castle there was a rope and we had to wait with everyone else who were now coming in the park. Man, it was scary to watch the people behind us pile up. I told DH to watch out when the released the rope because there are some people who will run over you to get in line first. As soon as they dropped the rope I heard the good morning welcome announcement, it was good to hear. We WALKED over to Peter Pan and were pretty much the first in line. We rode that and then headed over to Thunder Mountain. DH became a huge fan of this ride, which he had experienced for the first time a couple days ago. We got on towards the back and had a great ride and when we returned there was hardly anyone waiting to get on so I asked the CM if we could ride again and she said yes. All in all we rode it 4 times in a row! I remember thinking on the ride how it was our last day and I would have to be at work in a couple days, but while I was on this ride someone else was having to work and it wasn’t me!!!! Then we hop a train over to space mountain and ride it and get a fast pass to ride again in 45 minutes. We then do the people mover/transit authority (my favorite ride!) and by the time we got off of it we decided it was time to head back to the room to check out and store our luggage since it was nearing 11am and we had a late checkout of noon. We took the boat back to the GF and called the bellman to come to our room and did a finally check of the room for anything and last look at the castle from our wonderful view and say goodbye. L We then head back over to MK via monorail and decide that we are going to ride Splash Mountain. After waiting about 15 minutes we got on and we traded with someone to ride up front because I wanted a good photo of us on this ride and we got soaked, but it was the coolest photo ever, by my DH on a ride. We bought the photo and headed over to Pirates, I had wanted to ride this again, since it’s a favorite and we had only ridden it once so far. While over there I had to use the restroom and as I am going over there we see Captain Hook and Smee and then there was Wendy and Peter Pan. Wendy was a great character, she really looked the part and I wanted to have my photo with her since she is my namesake, but line was too long. We then see a crystal stand and decide to look at those since we were trying to find something for DH’s boss since she liked to hang crystal in her office. We saw a cute crystal Tinkerbell. I mentioned to my DH how much I liked it and he bought it for me too. SIDE NOTE: The first time and only other time DH and I went to WDW together, he bought me a crystal item which was the Beauty and the Beast glassed rose, it is beautiful and he promised that every return visit he would buy me a crystal item. My next trip with my family in 2000, my DH called my sister and asked her to pick something out for him and he would pay her back and so I got a little crystal Cinderella slipper that says “my little princess” which I definitely am to my DH. So now I have a Tinkerbell to add to that collection. At this point it’s around 1pm and I’m getting hungry – yes again! So I decide that I’m going to eat, because who knows what kind of airplane food we would be getting. So since we were over by the pirates we decide to just eat right over there and we got a big thing of nachos and DH got two tacos and we just shared it all and it was wonderful! We then decided that we were tired and decided that we just wanted to walk throughout all the shops and then just head back to GF and wait for our driver to pick us up since he would be there at 5pm and we were tired. We walked over towards Main Street and decided to look at the barbershop. I had told my husband all about this place and how they have colored gels for your hair and etc. So I was glad to see it and so I talked DH into getting a haircut. When we went in there, there was two teenage boys and a small kid waiting, so we decided it wasn’t that bad of a wait. Then about 30 minutes into waiting here comes a family of 5 kids and they start talking to the one small kid (boy) that had been waiting there and talk about how they all had to get their hair done. I asked the mom if she was having all the kids hair cut or just some, because we weren’t going to wait if they all did and she said no just three of them. So at this point they had already started on one of them and we decided there was nothing else to do so we waited. By this time it was 3pm and the share a dream come true parade was already starting. We had a perfect view from the shop. What a good deal. DH was in the chair at this point actually getting his hair done finally after 1.5 hours of waiting. I stood outside and took some great photos of the parade. What a great idea for a parade, I hope they keep that one around. Then I went back inside and telling the person cutting DH’s hair to put some color in his hair, but DH keeps saying no. Finally DH agrees and she puts a little blue in the front of his hair and we took photos. It was a great haircut by the way, probably one of the best I’ve seen DH have in a long time. Well, that was it; we were on our way back to the hotel and this time it was for good. We couldn’t believe it was finally over. L We headed back to the hotel and I got my backpack out of storage to put our crystal tinkerbells in them. After about an hour of waiting – around 4:30pm we decide to check outside to see if our driver is early and there he was! I was inside on the couches in the lobby listening to the band play for the last time. We got our stuff out of storage and loaded up in the car to go to the airport. I couldn’t believe it was over already. So off we went and in the car DH tells me about how we will be sitting in first class, he knew all along but wanted to save it for a surprise for me when he knew I would be depressed due to us leaving. So I was happy again, plus I didn’t have to go to work tomorrow, like DH insisted on doing, so I still had another day to relax from the vacation. All in all it was a wonderful vacation, the vacation I had dreamed about since I was little. To be there with my DH in the celebration of 100th years and to stay at the beautiful GF and see the castle from our room, what more could you ask for? Well, to do it all over again, right? Luckily DH was inspired by this trip from Test Track and his new love for the roller coasters that he actually does want to go back again, maybe in a year, or maybe when we have kids to come with us. We are hoping that the pixie dust worked since we had just decided prior to the trip to work on starting a family. Maybe we will have a “little souvenir” just like the Disney commercial for the Disney cruise ship.

What a nice surprise from your DH! :) Sounds a very memorable trip. :)

Great pictures! I actually bought that yellow pillow you have in the gallery. Brings a little "GF" back to my house. :)

Another great day!

Your crystal collection sounds wonderful--so many memories for you.

But, I hated the Share a Dream Come True Parade. I thought the idea was good, but I didn't think they did a good job:(

Great pictures! Sounds like a magical time!

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Great pictures. Loved your reports. Truly a magical vacation. Wish I could spend my birthday at Disney World.

Wendy-

LOVED your trip report! Thank you so much for sharing all the details- the food details, the shopping details- it's those extras that make Trip Reports so much fun to read. And the pictures were awesome! My DS5 loved the Buzz Lightyear pics. I'm so happy you and your Dh had such a memorable trip. And good luck with your "souvenier" making. :-) We are taking our two boys for their first trip to WDW in Feb and can't wait to share the magic. They've been to DL a few times, but this will be a whole new ballgame!

Take care-
Robin

Great report. If you want a reason to have your DH to keep going back, look into buying DVC. There is a great board on this site. plus we need more Texans owners.

We found out last Wednesday, December 12th that we were pregnant, it's either an October/WDW baby or a Thanksgiving one, we will find out in a couple weeks!
Thanks for reading my reports.

Yippee! Congratulations to Wendy and Michael! What a great Christmas gift! Take it easy! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Aren't last days sad? Sounds like this was truly a magical trip. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Katholyn

thanks for sharing these reports - they were really cute. I hope to stay at the GF in a room with a view someday.

and congratulations on your souvenier!

Howdy neighbor!

It's been a while since I've had time to read trip reports, and I of course had to read yours since you are from DFW. Thanks for writing. Next time you need to get your husband to do the Tower of Terror. My husband never used to like rides, but loves that one. He even rode the Rock n Roller Coaster and liked it.
